was wondering if anyone has had a 2inch body lift????
and can it be done
06 GXL 3.0LT TURBO,50 mm ride pro lift, poly bags, arb roof rack with 4x ipf 800xs driving lights, arb awning, gme radio, red arch dual battery with pirhana batt monitor,2x ipf 800xs driving lights on soverign bar, mickey thompson ATZ, kaymar rear wheel spacer, tinted windows, red arch electric brake controller,diffx2 transfer case and gear box breathers just fitted front and rear recovery points.
I think AJ120 has done a simple 8mm body lift from memory. I also think his aim with that was to provide greater clearance for his steel steps but could be wrong.
body lifts cant be done with any car with airbags legally, my interpretation is because of the higher centre of gravity, ie: in a front end collision the body is further away from the chassis due to the body blocks extra height which in turn puts more force onto the chassis body block mounts. in a nut shell leverage. not many engineers would put their name to pass this modification, im not sure what it would do to deploying the airbags but im sure there would be some type of calculations that can be done to back up my answer. thats my 2 cents. cheers samo
had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.
The small lift like i have, 8mm is fairly easy, anything more would involve a lot more work. Mine is also so small that the spacers are almost impossible to see and i doubt anyone would notice even if they were looking. A 40-50mm lift would easily attract the attention of the police and any insurance assesors if you had an accident.

If u have airbags body lifts are not allowed at all
...If its not on all 4's it's not on.....
2008 GXL D4D, OME lift, arb bar, IPF 55W HIDs, HID headlights, duel Batteries, Winch, UHF, Safari Snorkel, bfg km2's, arb side awning, rola cage, engel fridge, kaymar rear bar(to fit)
The other thing to consider is what are you going to achieve with a 2" body lift? it might improve you approach angle slightly assuming you move you bullbar up as well. Ramp over, ground clearance and exit will not change at all. you would get more side step clearance and of course the look, but this is about it. A lot of work and a lot of engineering and insurance hassles for little result.

I have a body lift in my other 4x4 and would not have if I didn't need it as it also changes your stability
U would have to lift all bars and that gets more expensive

ok that answers a bit.
my insurance will allow me to have up to a 4 inch suspension and body lift.
so either 2 inch of each or just a 4 inch suspension lift.
once it is covered by insurance the police cant do a thing.

Your insurance company will generally say 'you are covered so long as your vehicle is roadworthy'
If your bodylift isnt engineering than technically its not legal(roadworthy)
Everything is fine until you have an at fault accident and the assessor starts to dig.
There was a guy in QLD that managed to get a B/L signed off by an engineer and it was late model hilux. I cant remember if it was Maxx of someone else.

Way off the mark. You'll find if your modifications (or anything on your vehicle, including you!) is unroadworthy/illegal then your insurance will be void.

Commercial vehicles (Utes) have different rules to passenger vehicles (which includes AWD/4WD wagons). It's possible to get this passed in SA too on commercial vehicles if you find a willing engineer and cough up the cash.
