  • Maxxis Bighorn 265-70-17 Tyres

    Hi all
Ill be up for tyres on the 03 Grande in the next few weeks and these are looking good for the money at $285 each for the 265-70-17.

Anybody used them or have experience with these regarding noise and wear?

My second option would be the good old BFG AT in the same size at $330 a piece.

Can't comment on the bighorn, but I reckon Maxxis in general are a really underrated tyre. Had a set of mt 753 Bravos on another vehicle that just wouldn't say die and they copped a hiding on some pretty rough terrain. I thought they'd never wear out!

I'm pretty sure BlackPradoChick put a set of these on - maybe flick her (them) a PM.

They got good reviews from 4WD Action as best mud tyre, if that means anything to you.

        Re: Maxxis Bighorn 265-70-17 Tyres

        Thanks for that.
Ive also had good experience with Maxxis in road tyres so it made me curious as they are a good price.
I was just curious about the long term living with them, like are they really noisy compared some other muddies, do they wear funny, etc etc.
They are a good looking tyre and locally they go for about $285 which seems pretty cheap.
        Thanks again.

          Re: Maxxis Bighorn 265-70-17 Tyres

I have a set on my prado.
I like them. They are my second set. (had a set on my surf as well)
I got them down to 260 each I think.
Me and my cousin did a comparison, and they are quieter than his Goodyear MTRs also.
I found them a big improvement over the grandtreks also.
