  • Kumho KL71

There seems to be a major shortage of tyres at the moment and this is one of the only alternatives that I can get next week in a 265-70-17.
Cant even seem to get a reasonable AT tyre at the moment, either road bias or MT are all thats available
At $300 a piece they are $50-100 cheaper than any of the others currently available options, like MTZ or STT

Is anybody actually using these tyres, what are they like?
I know they are directional but aside from that, how do they perform for everything, road, gravel, firetrail, mud etc.

Probably get a set of these next week if reports are favourable, which they seem to be atm.

      Re: Kumho KL71

The thin sidewalls let the Kumho's down - literally !!

High speed gravel corners or low pressures off road will eat the walls out.

I had a 5 rib Mickey on the front and a KL71 (second spare off the trailer) on the rear and ran over a sharp tree root. You could see the scuff on the 5rib but it went straight through the Kumho.

The KL71 are supposed to be directional, I had a lefty on a righty for over 1500kms which didn't actually make that much difference in the mud.

With all the tyre manuf. in shut down from the earth quake, tyres will not doubt become even harder to get.

A few of the guys have commented the Maxxis brands are better than expected.
