  • Bridgestone D694

Are Bridgestone D694 Directional as ive just had a brand new set fitted and noticed the tread pattern do rotate one way and there is an arrow like indication on the edge of the tyre.

Tyre dealer told me they are not.

    Waifamily,
The D694 is not a directional tyre. Is the arrow pointing into the tread or in the direction you think it should travel?? I am guessing that the arrow like indicator (there should be a few of them) are more than likely pointing at the tread wear indicators across the tread.
If you look across & into the base of the tread you should find small lumps.
When he tyre wears down to these lumps it is indicating that it is now unroadworthy.

PS, from memory I think they do have some large arrow pattern on the side wall just below the tread, means nothing just makes it look pretty??

    Cheers,
    Fazza

      Thanks

i have also notice that the prado is more suspectable to cross winds and a little more noisy on tarmac with the D694 than the grandtreks. Or is it just me.

        The noise is certainly there.

I attributed the cross wind susceptibility to the deluxe bar's shape - I hadn't considered how the tyres might be a contributing factor...

          Thanks

On a positive note the D694 are better on cornering than the Grandtreks and have more tread depth when new.

Absolutely! I think they are a much better choice for the car.

I plan on getting a set for exactly that.

Want to keep the MTZ's for the scrub.

Bridgestone have these on sale at the moment for $279 each (265/65/17). Judging by some of the posts on here that seems a reasonable price.

I picked up a set for $271.00 ea. That was for Aussie made ones.

I immediately noticed that they are noisier than the Grandtreks. (Got 62000km out of 'em, about 6000km towing the caravan). I probably could have got another 5000 out of them but they were starting to get really skittish in the wet. They would aquaplane just by thinking about it, even though they weren't down to the tread bars.

So far so good. I've done about 25 wet km since having them fitted today and they seem to be more confidence-inspiring in the wet than the Dunloops.

only having a stab in the dark but you would only think around $20 per tyre

Greetings all, first post for me!

Just fitted four new D694s after searching this forum for tyre recommendations. The original Grandtreks were fine on the road but I only just got 40,000km out of them. The D694s have a tendency to 'wobble' a bit compared to the Grandtreks when driving down the road. If you give the steering wheel a little side to side action and then return it to the centre, the vehicle takes a second to catch up. It feels as though the sidewalls are allowing the tyre to flex laterally, felt strange at first but I think I'm used to it now! And yes, I've checked the pressures!

I'm sure I'll find something else....

                              D694's

Picked up new VX last Friday and straight to Bob Jane Chermside for a tyre transplant. Off with the Grandtrek's and on with D694's 265/65/17. Apart from the reasonable changeover $, was pleased to see the 694's are Aussie made!
