  • 2nd spare in different size

I've just bought 5 brand new 265/70/17 bfgs however my second spare is almost bald 265/65/17, should i think about replacing that one for something larger or can i use smaller tyre for max 100 to few hundred kms in an emergency if sh!t hits the fan? I don't want to cause any diff issues.

also if i can (or it is borderline) is it better to put the smaller tyre at the front or at the back?

    Given a 30mm difference in OD between a 265/65/17 and a 265/70/17 I would not recommend it.

You could buy a second hand 265/70R17 of some other AT tyres. I wouldn't put the 265/65R17 on.

I would do my best to keep them the same size, when I got my last set of tyres I got a second hand BFG from a 4x4 wrecker for $50 which had about 80% tread.

For the price of a second hand tyre I wouldn't risk it.
