  • Fitting 265/70/17 to Prado in VIC

    Hi Guys,

there's been alot of mixed information on this issue and I sent an e-mail to VicRoads seeking clarification. Here's the e-mail below.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes - 265/70/17 is an aceptable replacement for 265/65/17 provided load and speed ratings are adequate

    Concern Description:
    Hi,
    I own a 2007 Toyota Prado.
The car has this tyre size on it since new: 265/65/17, which is what is stated on the tyre placard. Can I fit 265/70/17 tyres on it?
I have a 2" lift and these slightly bigger tyres will not cause any problems with rubbing or similar. There is alot of mixed information on the internet, and I need a confirmation from the source. The tyres I'm looking at exceed the minimum speed and load rating

I had no idea! I wish someone would've told me! lol

I've been googling for ages and no luck!

Going to go for the Cooper ST's now that I know I can get the bigger size, because they don't make them in a 265/65/17
