  • Painting 120 GXL rims

    Hi all,
Like some others, my rims have developed some corrosion on the painted inside serfices. I am thinking of getting the rims painted (only on the inside parts, not the machined face). Has anyone else done this? I am leaning towards powder coating as it is tougher, but I am not sure if this can be done while leaving the machined edge.
Have others had this done, and if so how successful was the outcome? I am also thinking of using black paint on the inserts. Anyone with photos?

Long story short, tyre place damaged mine and when I enquired about repairs I was told if you painted them you wouldn't be able to keep the machine finish.

Oh and if you're still in warranty try asking Toyota for their opinion. It is a known problem.

Thanks for the reply D4D, we are well out of warrenty but yes it does seem to happen on many 120's. I had suspected the paint all or nothing might have been the case but thought I would ask anyway. Did you get a price when you enquired about painting?
