Just a bit wider, if you go 70 profile instead of the 65 then it will be ilegal, mind you in saying this there must be a shite load of prados running around with 70's on them BUT at the end of the day if some thing unfortunate happens (especially if some one gets hurt) then this is when murphy will raise his ugly head........Cheers Steve

          Hey Gibeno,

You will probably find in NSW the legal varience in rolling diameter is 10mm (can double check with RTA). If this is the case you will probably find the 275 65 17's to be greater then this. You can google tyre calculators, and they will tell you the difference in rolling diameters between different sizes. If the rolling diameter is larger the the allowed varience and you have an accident and your insurance company notices it, you will not be insured. Its worth being 100% sure, otherwise you have find yourself 10s of thousands of dollars out of pocket if the worst was too happen. Mind you there are many 4x4s out there with illegal modifications, so i guess its up to the individual if that want to risk it? Me personally not so much, just incase i wipe out a 100k merc and write it off, i would rather be insured lol :-)

I thought it was 15mm in NSW. which means that 275/65/17 is legal in NSW.
Not 100% just what I've been told by a tyre place
            Cheers

Correct, a 275/65/17 is legal in NSW, a 265/70/17 is not. 15mm over the largest diameter specified for your vehicle is the maximum allowed. VSI 9 has all the information you need.

Will 275 fit with out rubbing? Or have to have lift?

Yes, a 275/65/17 tyre will just fit a standard 120 with standard wheels, but if your suspension has sagged and/or if you fit a bullbar that has less clearance in the guards than the standard bumper, then it may rub. You will also need some spacers on your spare wheel carrier or the spare will rub on your rear door.
