I will be buying from a well recognised tyre store that has franchise stores all over Aust. (Thats if i go with the cheaper $280 tyres. I will again clarify with them about load rating etc to be sure we are comparing apples with apples.)

I grabbed the phone book this morning and rang around and got these prices from 5 stores for AT3, 265/65 R17 120R. All are with standard Coopers extended warranty.

    $340; $335; $365; $335; $320.

Wheel alignment prices varied from $44 to $66.

Amazing how they vary so much because when I bought my previous 2 sets Coopers had set the prices and they were all the same price when you rang around. These stores are local to me within about 20 - 30 minutes radius.

$280 is good price for these, I paid $360 a corner from my local tyre guy.
i know he does a great job so i paid normal price, but I know I got a great job

Interested to see if the tyre is legit and how good it is installed/balanced with your $280 price

      Keep us posted !

I rang another local tyre company this afternoon and got the cheapest quote yet.

$275 each but no extended coopers warranty, just your normal statutory warranty.

I asked how come they were so cheap and he said he is able to buy direct from company who imports them at cheaper price and can sell at cheaper price. He just isnt one of the Coopers resellers so cant sell with their extended warranty.

I asked what difference they were from the tyres with the coopers extended warranty to be told: Nothing, they are exactly the same tyre bought from exactly the same place

hmmm. Must be some markup on these just to get that extra warranty

Well....someone will finally say it and tell me what I thought all along. They are load rated at 112 not 120 which I think the Coopers AT3 LT are. So my way of thinking is that these are GENUINE as they all have said but are the ones used in the USA and are PASSENGER rated. So that is why they are cheaper than the ones most get quoted on, the 120 rated AT3s.

Now from memory the Grand Treks are rated at 112 also.

Now I just have to ring the well known branded tyre franchise company and get them to actually admit they are rated at 112 not 120. They have in past said they were the 120s but I am guessing when they turn up they wouldnt be. Just to get them to admit it or prove otherwise.

                Any thoughts???

I have had ATR's on the old 90 series, ATR's on my 120, and now AT3's on my 120. I have had 2 successful warranty claims due to them not making the distance. The ATR's were short by 27,000kms on the 90, and 35,000kms on the 120. Cooper paid the difference on both occasions.

                  Now the disclaimer:
The tyres are great, and in normal driving would go the distance, however I live in the Adelaide Hills and drive it like a race car. I do very little driving on the flat lands - it gets a thrashing.

So, I do the rotations etc, by the dealer as I know it is cheaper (for my situation) than replacing the tyres at full cost.

If you drive like a normal person (NOT me) then it is not really worth going through the warranty process, and it is cheaper to rotate tyres yourself, wheel align when/if necessary, and pay full price.

NB the Cooper Rep was gob smacked that I chewed up his tyres so quickly - but paid up all the same.

And for what its worth, these current AT3's are lasting a whole lot better than the ATR's ever did, might go close to warranty distance, so I may have just wasted my $'s on rotations and Wheel Aligns every 10,000kms. I have done 30,000 on them and they are looking 1/2 ish worn.

Oh, the AT3's I run are LT, but I reckon the ATR's were Passenger - could explain the better distances too

Just wondering if you manage to get you tyres ?

Thinking of getting these tyres before end of June and would appreciates you assistance.

I was leaning toward the BFG AT-ko but the pricing was like $350 but when i saw you Cooper AT3 for between $275-280 I reckon that it a steal.

Could you PM me the contacts for the Coopers.

From what I have been told, it won't matter what tyre you put on if you run them at Toyota recommended pressures for comfort on a 120 Series. I bought my grande 2nd hand with 40,000 on the odometer and it had already chewed a set of tryes, hiked the pressures to 40PSI and have done over 40,000 km on Kumo AT's and the standard Dunlops's and have plenty of tread left and mine does go bush - sand, mud, rocks and dirt ruts.

I'm still debating the MT Baja 4 rib or the AT3 before 30 June just to get them into this tax year.

Maily do beaches though, so perhaps the Cooper is the better option, but then again, the MT's do have a nice agressive tead pattern that looks better with a lift

Got the Coopers for $300 per wheel. LT series. According to the dealer, when you run P series, warranty is void when you goes on rock treks. The warranty for the tyre is 5 years for manufacturing defect but no mileage warranty for this price.

They will be fitted tomorrow. Petty happy with the price. By the way P series is $35 less. Tyre is 265/65R17 AT/3

So 300 bucks for an AT3 in the LT rating? That's pretty good. The best I can get quoted is $345.
