Question whether tyres will fit?

Hi all I've recently bought a 2004 gx prado. It's got avanti rims with 275/65/17 Bridgestone duellers but the spare is still the stock gx rim with a 225. My question is would another Bridgestone the same size fit on the factory gx steel rim or would I need to get another rim to suit? I presume it would be too skinny of a rim but wanted to ask.

You need the wider rim for sure. I doubt any tyre fitter would put the tyre on for you.

Hi, I've got a 2004 GX as well. I'm not familiar with the Avanti rims, but there is no way a 275 would go on the standard rim. I replaced my standard rims with steel GXL wheels and fitted 245's. Out of interest, how far do the 275's stick out past the guards?

Hi there. The 275s only just sit outside the guards they look great and go great off road. That's how I bought the car. As they don't hang out further than the side steps it got a roadworthy no problems when I bought it. Looks as thought I'd guessed but wanted to check. Ill grab a second hand steel rim or something for the spare

Another member on here picked up 07 GX steelies and then put 265s on that. The tread was wholly within the guards but the sidewalls stuck out a little. Nothing to be concerned practically about but a pedantic police officer or Dept against Transport inspector would legally be able to defect the vehicle. I doubt that would ever happen though.
