  • New Dunlop AT3 all terrain

Guys, in the latest 4x4 aust mag i noticed an ad for a Dunlop AT3 new all terrain tyre, it looks very much like the 694 and the Pirelli ATR.
It is that new when i googled it i couldn't find anything. It certainly looks the goods.

Problem is though, it will probably cost a bloody fortune like the other Dunlop Tyres.

I saw that ad to! Looks interesting. I assume it will replace the AT2 as the standard rubber on all new Prados in the near future.

Hoppy, standard rubber is the AT20 road tyre, this is an allterrain.

When I was ringing around for new tyres last month a couple of places mentioned there was a new Dunlop on the way... he couldn't tell me when they were arriving or what they looked like, so I went the Coopers.
          Cheers, Leon

I reckon you took the right option. I've done 50,000 in the Dunlop Grandtreks (basically a road tyre) and cannot wait to get some Cooper All Terrainers in the 265/70's......Hopefully next month once the Lease company o.k's it.

I'm hoping the more aggressive tread of the Cooper A/T, and the added height in the 70 tyre will make a big difference for me..

will keep you all posted....

                Hey Hutch,

I saw it too, I went to the dunlop website and there's no AT3 there but a "new" AT2. Seems like there may a bit of a muff up somewhere.

                http://www.dunloptyres.com.au/TyreDe...&from=nPerPage

It looks the goods anyhow and I rekon I'll give em a go on the new Prado.

Yeah I took another look and and the tread pattern is completely different to the AT2 on their website. I thought the AT2 had been around for a while but on their website it says it's new.

Anyhow just looks like they haven't added the AT3 to their website.

I'll get em and let you know how they go.

Being new to the 4WD scene I am keen to know what you think once you have them Crammy. I will be adding gear to our Prado when it arrives for some family camping & exploring and I was at the tyre shop yesterday and they mentioned the AT3 as an option (will trade the new tyres). They told me they were so new they didn't have a picture yet.

I was in the tyre shop today and had a yarn to the salesman... Needless to say it wasn't much of a yarn. He didn't know anything about them except that they were replacing the AT2... hmmm

Anyway quoted $350 PT and $150 trade in for the grandcraps! We'll have to work on that deal!

Prado arrives in the next couple of weeks...

The Dealer I went to about the AT3's quoted $305 per tyre. Can do the same for the Pirelli Scorpion. The Pirelli's have had great reviews. I spoke with a couple of people that have had them for many K's - they said they are great.

We had Pirelli Scorpions on our old Prado and they were not very good at all. They wore out real fast and were not too flash off road either. The wife prefered the BFG AT's once we got them on.
