Your wheel track must not increase by more than 26mm. So your offset for each wheel is half that.
So for a 120, original offset is +30. Max offset is therefore +17.
The 150 original offset is +25. Max offset is +12.
All that assumes a 7.5" rim, offset varies with width. The easiest thing to do is check any particular width and offset using an online offset calculator.

???????????? But surely track is related to the centre of the rim and that is dependent only on offset ???????????????

Track is dependent on offset.
How far the rim sticks out past the guards or how close the rim is to the suspension components is dependent on the rim width and offset.
The offset does not vary with width.
Gee when too mechanical engineers tell you are wrong you better go and double check your facts
The question wasn't about track, it was maximum offset without rubbing!
At the risk of confusing myself (which is not hard) offset is the distance from the centre of the rim to the mounting flange and is expressed in positive or negative numbers depending which side of the centre the flange is.
If you take a wheel with a given offset, say +30 for a 120 rim, and keep that offset constant regardless of width half the extra width is added to the inside and the other half to the outside. So for example an ET30 x 7.5 rim will have the inner flange sitting further away from the UCA than an ET30 x 9" rim, which is why I say that Offset is not the only factor, it varies with rim width in relation to whether it will rub or not!
So yeah it makes no difference to track, but whether it rubs or not (which was the question) it makes a difference! Whether it hangs outside the gaurd is another factor as well.
Happy to be proved wrong but thats the way I read it!

I think I know what you mean now, but you said it differently in your previous post and you quoted my post about track
Yes I probably worded it badly in that first post Having gone down to the shed to do some work and thought about this a bit more I realise that of course the tyre is generally wider than the rim and the tyre is the one that will rub, so assuming your rim width is in the realms of reality all the different rim width will do is change how square the sidewalls are but not change their position in relation to anything with any given offset.
Not sure why I was silly enough to try and correct you AMTS.
This tyre calculator http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp is useful for understanding different offsets and wheel sizes and how it affects things.
I really do wish it was easy to find wheels that I liked, that fit, that are legal and would allow me to increase the track of the Prado, been looking for a long time and still no closer!
Cheers Andrew

Aint that the truth. I like the look of the original FJ wheels that were fitted in the US, 6 spoke. No available here and only available second hand out of there.
