06' GXL TD Prado with 8,000 km. Front passenger tyre looks like it has had 108,000km on it. First thought is re-alignment & rotation, or should i put the new spare on?
GraandCraps and Prados : The recipe for making $ out
Dear Jaxson
Mine were completely gone by 19K, the car then didn't do any 4 wheling, no pumps into curbs and completly maintained by Toyota. :evil:
Check my earlier posts 1- Tyres Worn at 19K , and the followup sagga at 2- Reading from car alignment job. The guys at the forume helped alot especially Fazza he is an expert 8)
Usually fast tyre wearing is attributed to low radius of turning and the car tendancy towrds leaning on the outer rim of the tyre while turning ( you can see that when whatching Prado's turn compared to other SUVs)
The problem is mainley Toe-In , Prado's are Notorious for losing Toe and tyres tend to laen inwards as time passess by. Toyota whashed it hands out of this -as usual- and my solution was;
A) Dump the Grandcraps switch to Pirilli -like I did- or bridgestones
B) Rotate you tyres evry 5K ~ 10K keeping in mind to balance the wheels and do Wheel alignment when you rotate (Keep the front tyres toe-in as close to 0.0 as possible -the best I could reach here in Dubai was 0.2-)
C) Maintain a good pressure on your tyres 34 (on roads)-15 (off-road) - forget about the recommended 29 -silly toyota-
I har already did 12K on my new tyres and they didn't wear at all - I rotated them once-,
and Hay 8K on 06 Prado will done mate , I've done 34K on mine also 06,
