        285/65/17 802mm

BFG 265/70/17 801mm also has a higher load rating than the D697

I assume the 285 will be too wide though...
The BFGs are 121R and the D697 are 116S for the 265/65R17 and 118S for the 275/65R17
The Dick Cepek F-C11 in LT265/70R17 are 805mm and 121Q
The Micky T ATZ 4-Rib are also 805mm and 121Q
The Micky T STZ are 803mm and 121S

Locally, the Mickey Ts have the same problem as the Dick Cepek - only available from one dealer whereas the BFG are available pretty much everywhere so you can shop around.

I had Pirelli scorpions and I loved them ! Have them the absolute hiding of a lifetime , they where better than the BFG at ( I don't rate em at all)

I now have the BFG km2 muddy , and wouldn't go back to an all terrain . No noticeable difference in fuel economy or power , and that's upsizing to a 285/70/17 . They actually grip better In the wet on road than my Pirelli scorpions.

And than when you go offload you have a tyre with great strength , and just unreal grip. My mate with a solid Axle Hilux runs them cooper st and hates them , he's torn a couple of sidewalls already , coopers are crap. He's buying km2's again after running maxxis trepadora and creepy crawlers, super swampers

          Km2 are worth every cent

How does the price of the KM2s compare with the BFG ATs?

I'm sold on the mickey thompsen's , currently running atz5 rib, will go m/t's again and get a more aggressive mud pattern next time round, possibly to suit a spare set of complete rims/mags so i can deviate between mild off road to a bit off real grip depending on the trip... the atz's are paying for themselves.. you pay for what you get .. my advice is to go the top end in price and enjoy... one less worry.. cheers butane...

p.s m/t's have a wider range now compared to when i purchased my atz's

Given the lack of wear on the good one, I'm impressed.
The slightly worn Yoko geolanders on the back came back pretty nicked and cut.

Brıdgestone Dueler A/T strongly recommended from my experıence. Good value as well.

Avoıd the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G012 (Don't be tempted by the prıce and the clever sales pıtch at the dealers) I had a sharp rock cut a three ınch gash rıght through the tread of a brand new tyre! I wıll just not go that way agaın.

Depending where you shop, and the size you want, $20~80 difference.

Really tyre choice comes down to what type of workload they will do. Our Prado does mostly highway workload with sand and then light offroad. We just put the Pirelli Scorpion ATRs on and they are awesome for our driving.

Price was better than the D697s by a fair bit and they won ATR of the year so I am Happy.

If anyone wants to know where then Jax at Mitchelton in Brisbane was fantastic.

I have Yokohama ATS - 265/70/17 love 'em - speedo is 100% accurate as a bonus. I have run these on other vehicles (Surf, Rav4 and KJ Cherokee) and never had any problems.

hi, i'm not sure if this is relevant as i have no experience with this tyre but i just got my latest edition of nz4wd mag and there is a very positive reveiw of a tyre called hercules trail digger m/t, they fitted 265/70/17 to the fj cruiser that previously drove off road the length of the country (to replace stt coopers), the artcle said they were very good on road considering they are a mud tyre, they are made in the cooper factory on cooper carcasses, but cost less.

BFG. Used them on my 100 series now on my 150 Prado. When these wear out I will replace them with BFG's. Great tyre.

Oh great, just what you really need - a cheap ass tyre made in the same factory as Coopers. Coopers are already a cheap ass version of Mickey Ts and you want to go for something cheaper? They're probably made with all the rejected carcasses that caused so many failures with the Cooper ATRs. Another good reason to stay clear of them all.

i am neither for or against them, just saying they got a good write up, i am on my second set off stt's on our work hilux with no problems or flats so far, dads land cruiser has st/maxx at the moment and they are going great too. i might consider the hercules in 275/65/18 on the prado if nothing else fits the bill when the factory tires are shot, as i think they look ok for our terrain, our previous car had maxxis which also performed better than expected for the price.

another plus for the stz's here. I've had my 265/65/17 mickey stz's on for just under 40,000kms which includes around 3000kms of kimberley gravel tracks and you wouldn't even know, they've only lost 1.5mm. Great for stopping in wet, bag out great in sand, decent protection on rocks but fill up in the clay mud a bit quick.
