  • Prado wheels onto 1978 FJ40

Hi, I am currently a new owner of a 2006 Prado GX Limited and looking at replacing the standard wheels and tyres, but my question if anyone knows, Would the original alloys off my Prado fit a 1978 FJ40 shortwheel base Landcruiser? any information would be appreciated.
    Cheers

The stud pattern is the same, so no issues there. In 1978 the rims would have been likely in the 14" range, so they should well and truly go around the brakes.

Offset would be the only question.

    Do you have an FJ40?

    Cheers Andrew

Thanks for the reply AJ120, Yeah I work at a Toyota dealership and we traded it in so I grabbed it for what I think was a cheap price, Its in the shed sitting next to the Prado, so really I could have jacked both cars up and swapped a wheel to see if it fits, but thought the easier option was to ask first. The tyres on the Prado aren't all that bad but I want to upgrade them anyway and don't really want to waste the tyres, so if the rims fit the FJ it would be a better look than the originals.

Suck it and see sounds like the easy answer then.

Post a picture if they fit

        Cheers Andrew

As long as the offset is no more that the FJ all good. Usual other rules, wheels inside guards, no rubbing on body or suspension, track no more than +50mm increase (no reduction) and tyres no more than +50mm in diameter.

A quick google suggests the FJ wheels are -25 offset. Thus the Prado wheels would be illegal but unlikely to fit in any case. Have a good look at the fa Tory FJ wheels.
