  • Dick Cepek Radial F-C II

Have done a search and can't find anything about these tyres, i have noticed them on a couple of local 4wd's, just wondering if anyone has any info/knowledge of these tires, haven't priced these but apparently they are around a $100 cheaper per tyre then the equivalent mickey thompson's.

Any feed back or criticism in welcome...

    Cheers Rhys

I checked some time ago but they didn't come in a size to suit the Prado, things may have changed though.

It doesn't show all the tire sizes on the mickey thompson site. The Dick Cepek site has a list of all the tyre sizes.

My son has had them on his Ford courier ute for about 6 months
Good on road manners, nice moderate off road tyre
They do their best work off road at 20psi compared to my STs at say 24, nice sidewall profile, hold good shape and get some good flex when needed
Wear has been minimal in 10k klm, they still look new
I would have no hesitation in using them, quite impressive thus far

I think this is the US site. Most of the manufacturers have a much better range in the states, and probably elsewhere in the world, while we struggle on with 2 or 3 sizes in 17's.
I think the Baja Radial ATZ are available in the LT265/70, might be worth a look. They are quoted at 60/40 on/offroad.
The FC 11 look like they are only available in 33, 35 or 37's on the 17's.
              Happy to be wrong though

I have the FC-II on my Hilux, and have nothing but praise for them, they are a little noisy on the bitumen, but perform great in the mud and sand. I am currently shopping for a prado, and was hoping to put these on that, however as yet they do not make the size. The thing I love is the 80,000kms warranty that comes with these tyres. I have done nearly 40,000kms on them and there is little tread wear.
I only wish they made them in the size for the Prado

According to the website, the Dick Cepek's do come in a LT265/70R17 so it would be interesting to see how they compared even though they are made in the same factory as Mickey T's and Cooper. They do not offer much in the way of information though so it is hard to make a calling on them

I had a chance to have a good look at the Dick Cepeks today while visiting a trainee and unfortunately they did not have a 17" for the Prado in stock. The tyre looks good and could be a reasonable performer.

While I was there though, they did have a Mickey T 265/70R17 LT in both ATZ and MTZ and I was amazed at the difference in the sidewalls of tyres that I would have thought should have been very similar.

The MTZ is actually a lot stiffer in the sidewall and does not have as much "give" in it as the ATZ and according to the literature, they both have the same style of construction (Power ply construction).

I was turned off the ATZ because of the apparently thinner sidewall and ould be interested to see if anyone else has also had a good look at the 2 tyres?

I have a set of ATZ's on my 90 series. Yes the sides on them bag out considerably. When in the high country earlier this year my ATZ's bagged out more at 30psi than tyres on other vehicles I was travelling with (coopers ST, STT, BFG's) that were at 20psi. I let them down to 27 psi at one stage and one of the guys behind me called was watching them as I drove and was so worried about them we stopped and I pumped them up some more.

I have had no problems with grip from these tyres - on road and off road -and they are very quiet. The side walls just bag too much and I am always worried about getting a sidewall puncture when I go offroad as I did in the high country.

Hi all, I was out on Saturday looking at tyres and saw the fun country 2 tyres in the 265/70R17 .I liked the look of the tread pattern and all round construction of this tyre. I was wondering if anyone has had these tyres long enough to put some high klms on them and if so how are they wearing and performing. At the moment I have 265/65R17 's on and was wondering if it a problem if I keep my spare providing I don't drive for an extended period of time before getting a repair or replacement.
                          Cheers Matt

Or should I dip more into tax return to buy 5 and include them all in the rotation. I was hoping the cheaper option would be ok.

Slightly different diameter won't matter too much on the front (will probably just pull to one side) but on the back could overheat the LSD very quickly.
