Pirelli Scorpian ATR..prices

I had a set of the Pirelli Scorpions on my 90 series and couldn't wait to get rid of them. I found they didn't handle nearly as well in the wet as BFG or Coopers, and I didn't get very good mileage out of them either. I find the BFG or Coopers really good on road and off.

The old AT's and the new ATR's are miles apart in the quality of the tyre.

Apparently there is a container of ATR's arriving within 2 weeks into Perth so I have ordered four and including balancing and a wheel alignment is costing $1400 from a Bob Jane

Seems a lot of $$$$$ but they appear to be a good tyre

I have had the Scorpion ATRs for c.6 months and have had no complaints - noise low and full confidence in the wet and off road

I found they cut up a little when I was traversing rock beds at Arcot Station but the more experienced Brisbane 4x4 club guys reckoned the cuts were flesh wounds and nothing to worry about.

Solution is to stay off the dry river bed tracks I guess!!

Greetings to all with sincere thanks for the wonderful information made available

Purchased the Pirelli Scorpion ATR's four weeks ago and am really disapointed

First day after fitting at BJTM and paying $1400 including alignment checked pressures and found tyres inflated to 24, 32,34 and 40PSI

Severe vibrations so after 3 weeks took it to a Beaurepairs for a new balance

Straight away he goes " vibrating are they - should have bought AT3's"

After the balance no better so waiting for 5K rotation

Is this normal or am I expecting too much "

I would be going straight back to were i brought them, if they want to blame the tyre, ask them to call in the pirelli rep and talk to them.

No this is not normal.I have had ATR's on for 12mths without any issues and very happy.

I've had mine for about 6 weeks and really like them. Prado feels very stable.

I was told to run them at 40psi <> at the BJTM - is this ok as you can run over a match and feel it

We had a 700k run over the weekend and on the return ran them at 36psi - felt a lot better but still feel very sensitive

I use BJTM as well always have as i get great service, the guys always run my tyres at 36psi which i find a heap more comfortable with the prado, yes at 40 a little bit better economy and probably a few more miles but way to rough for me.
I am cuirrently runni9ng bridges but did have ATR pirelli's on the Jeep before i sold it and they were great.

how are you guys finding these now? couple of months down any further comments?

I'm starting the ball rolling on the new set of shoes for the prado and it's a tossup between these and the 694's at the moment..

Matt, don't forget that we should have in a few months 265/65/17 LT 694's, i think these would be the go and no insurance issues.

i like the sound of that! I'm not keen to get bigger tyres so an LT in standard size would be higher up the list i think!


i like pirelli's, have had them a few times on past cars and they handle fantasic on the road but being a softer compound they tend not to last as long... (well they didn't when i flogged the life out of them anyway)

tempted to go back to them based on some feedback from here!
