I've spoken to a few places and the best price I was given was about $340 but I'm sure, when I'm ready for them, I can get them cheaper.Nick

The Minister of Finance wants to know, in comparison to Gradcraps, how much more highway noise there is from these?Nick

Quicky and others,
There's another post on here somewhere by Pat, detailing a failure of ATZ's after 700km - blocks were tearing out and separating and the tyres were replaced for coopers at the dealer. Bit hard to tell if it is the same tyre as the photos have been removed.
Yours have had a good workout. any problems with tear-out?
Can you and others comment on the wet road grip compared to whatever you had before?
These ATZ 4-rib are at the top of my shortlist. I have a couple of weeks to decide. Our Prado will be used only as a trip car, so it will do a bit of highway work on the way to the flinders and parts beyond. Outback is the destination. It will also get used for a yearly snowtrip, which is about 2500km on bitumen.
Other tyres on the list are the BFG AT, the Pirelli Scorpion, and the 694's. I'm leaning toward LT carcasses though. It looks like I will be just a little early for the BFG 265/65 release (if it were available, it might swing me that way), so most likely I will land up with 265/70. Most places seem to quote about $100 trade-in on the GrandTreks. I have been quoted $332 for ATZ's in Adelaide.

Hi photoprado
We have done a bit over 12k now and the ATZ,s are still going great. The one thing I have noticed now that the trip is over and it is getting pedaled around the burbs again they are showing a little bit of a rough edge on every second block (every second one is recessed) on the shoulder. I put this down to the way the wife drives it around all the round abouts .She still thinks she is driving an SS. Wet driving hasn't been a problem still got good grip . As good as the old 694's we had. Hope to try them in the rough again nthis weekend. I must have got a good buy, only paid 310 each f & b04 GXL 3L TD Toyota Bullbar 2"TJM lift TJM OX hyd winch Blackwidow draws 40LT Engel dual batteries Mickey Thompson ATZ's Steinbauer P Box Airtek snorkel (colour coded)

Thanks, I'll see if I can get the prices sharpened up
Quicky, have you been rotating them?
If the BFG doesn't come out in time, this will be the tyre I think.

Re: mickey thompson atz
I was offered $328 back about two months ago but I didn't go ahead as i wanted to rub out the Grandcraps BUT with the aussie dollar going to hell the price of these imported US tyres will probably go up. Nice. Real Nice. Do the usual thing and shop around as much as you can. You might be lucky and get a better deal.Nick
