  • Mixing AT20's with D694's

    Hi,

We picked up the 'wifes' 05 Grande yesterday. It needed two new tyres for the front so the dealer put on new AT20's. The rears are roadworthy but only at about 30% so I am thinking that these need to be changed shortly also.

After doing lots of reading here I think that the D694's are the best tyre for the on road driving that this car will do.

Will I have any issue with AT20's on the front and D694's on the rear? Or should I just ditch the AT20's and go for D694's all round?

on any constant all wheel drive/4 wheel drive, i would always try to keep all tyres very similar in tread depth.
this will reduce any mechanical wear odd tyres will do.

I agree... and better to go the D694s all 'round.

        stick with D694's.
alot of people on here use and recommend them as good A/T's.
and i have seen these tyres on samo's rig climb a muddy clay section,
just as easy as some muddies in the watagans. good pick

Have 694's std size on my 120, and had no probs at all on road and recently across the simpson desert.
Slight bit of noise compared with Grandcraps.
          Overall very happy with them.
Had 16 incher 694's on my old Prado 90 - went over 100k on all manner of road and off road and only one puncture.
Previously had BFG's - good and solid, lotsa km's (over 100,000k's), but rather hard ride and rough compared against Bridgestones..
You won't catch me complaining about the 694's.

The two tyres you have on are odd sizes, this will cause issues in the long run.
            I would be going D694's.
