ide be getting a wheel alignment just to make sure it hasnt got a bent diff housing
Bump - had this on another car. when you cover off on all the advice previously given, if the noise is still there, take it back to the dealership and get them to fix it.
You dont want to end up with a big bill that you have to pay by leaving it too long.
I have noticed that the inside edge of both back tyres has a feathering,
It does sound like possible wheel alignment, but i'd be taking note of D4D-GXL's suggestion:

If the feathering was from being on the front too long, you would expect it on the outside of the tyres as it is generally caused by the way we turn through roundabouts.
Your idea of a tyre rotation or change with the spare sounds like a sensible first move to me. If it is under toyota new car warranty, it should be an easy matter to get sorted. Good luck with it.

To all, thanks for the good advice, took the car to a Alignment place in Bega, turns out the owner is a Prado man, checks all and finds a bent diff housing. Expecting an argument from the dealer in Sydney called and was overjoyed with the response, "Bring it back we will change the diff as soon as possible" must say 4WD CITY, if I am not brakeing any rules for the forum provides exceptional service and keep their word about any warranty.
