  • Front End Specs Changed

    Gday,
Was told yesterday by my dealer that the Specifications for the front end set up on all 120 series Prados has now changed. So if you are just about to get a wheel alignment ,make sure it being done with the updated specs.

    Cheers

So if we get our wheel alignments done at a toyota dealer do we assume that they will get it right or do we need to tell them how to suck eggs.

I just put my Prado in for it's 30,000km service (2004 model) and ask for a wheel alignment to reflect the new settings (as my passenger front tyre is wearing excessively).

I received an absolute denial that any settings for wheel alignment had been changed or updated.
He then proceed to tell me that the front left wheel is renown for it's wear and this is due to Sydney roads, the weight of the vehicle etc...

Does anyone have further information (or a dealership that knows about this change) that I could have this fixed at?

It would be best to fix this before I shell out on a new set of tyres!

        Hi all.

I dont know if this helps but when I got the suspension put through our 120. TD it came back with the following report.
It drove fantastic when leaving WAsuspensions.

        LEFT FRONT -----------I ---------------RIGHT FRONT
        FINAL / BEFORE ----------------------------- FINAL / BEFORE

        -0.0 -------........... ----------CAMBER ------------ -0.0 ------- ............
        1.5 --------- 0.8 ------------- CASTOR ------------ 1.3 --------- 1.3
        1.0mm ------........... ------------- TOE -------------- 1.6mm ------- .........

        -------------------------- FRONT--------------
        --------------------- FINAL---- / ------ BEFORE
        CROSS CAMBER-------0.0 -------------- .......
        CROSS CASTOR -------0.2 ------------. -0.5
        TOTAL TOE ----------2.5mm ------------ .......

All dimensions that are not maked as mm are degrees. (I dont know where to find the little degrees symbol on a keyboard)

The car only had about 10,000Km on it. with no crazy 4X4ing to put anything out of wack from what it was like out of the factory.
It drove well going there but better coming home.
It now has an extra 20,000 on it now all on cooper ST's (Better than those D.694's  ) with one rotation and no wierd wear to talk about at all.

          wheel alignment

Guys, if I could figure out how to post/attach a pdf file I would post the alignment requirements directly out of the toyota GRJ120 manual. Any help with this?

Got told today that the front passenger tyre was wearing badly. Also told that the tyre company will replace the tyres at a pro-rata rate. Guess this is an admission of fault??!!
Toyota don't want to know about it but they have changed the wheel alignment specs and apparantly the new tyres are a lot harder than the old ones.

Told that the new ones retail at $380.00 each!!!!
How much for a BF goodie A/T or Cooper??
