    Re: quiet tyre for Prado?

Forgot to mention when I replaced mine they were listed on the website as per your attachment but when I went to get them it was a different story, and that was a common response at several tyre places. Although listed as available, not in stock and would be 2 months from order approx. as they weren't on order either to come into the country by the distributor.

As I said that was about 10 months ago.

I read other post saying newer prado model's speedo was modified conservatively, so the odometer tends to show higher speed. So if the car got 70R, the variation is less than 3%.

The yokoharma AT/S just got a good wrap from the 4WD action boys as a great A/T and quiet on the highway.

Fitted Yokohama GO12 A/T-S in 265/65/17 size several weeks ago. Wife reckons they are quieter than the Grandtreks on road. Havn't given them a real workout off road yet but have had no issues. They are not a true LT tyre however they have a puncture/staking guarantee valid until they are more than 50% worn so I reckon Yokohama must be confident that they are tough enough. Will report further on their durability after further off road use

I concur. They are much better than the Grandtreks in all conditions.

              Thanks for your advices.

I was about to order the yokohama ones but I changed to Bridge 694. I learned that the 694 is manufactured in Australia and it's much cheaper than yokohama one. I'll get the new ones next Sat.

I read it's noiser than at20 but I hope the overall quality of the 694 is better than AT20 ones.

                Re: quiet tyre for Prado?

Just out of interest, when I got our AT3s, I did an online quote through Beaurepaires. At the time of submitting the online quotaation, there where possiblly 3 other fellas at work wanting a quote, all up 2 Prados and 2 Patrols (diff size though), b ut in the end I was the only one how got them.
I rang the local bloke, he said he'd have them over night, and then I mentioned I had an online quote, to which he said sure no problem.
Got there the next day, and I choose to get the 5th as the spare was shagged. He showed me on their PC that he sold 2 sets the previous day for $375/tyre, my online quote was for $312/tyre, bought back in May. I still have the quote in PDF format and it shows AT20s for $295/tyre.
Local bloke reckons they have to match these quotes, though he "isn't allowed" to quote this low. Not true, or salesman talk, but this was the best price, I could manage at the time, even from the Dunlop Super Dealer in town, they were $320/tyre after discussion.
And as Crammy has mentioned, these are quiet tyres.

I got a quote from a local jax for $225 for an AT20 and I wonder why it's so expensive.

I ordered four D649 for $245 each. Artamon bridgestone quoted $258 and discounts $8 for NRMA membership. In addition, I believe I can get a family movie tickets.

                            Re: quiet tyre for Prado?

It's not a requirement, but if you start with 5 new tyres of the same make/model/size, your options are better for rotating the tyres and you're looking better if you do land up destroying one.

Personally, we had our prado delivered with MT ATZ's and I have to listen real hard to hear them. No-one who has had a ride in it has commented either. LT spec with 70R. I never drove it with the grandtreks to compare, but the speedo is close, still over-reading by about 1kph at 100kph according to the GPS.

There must be a lot of Prado drivers who think they are speeding but just driving at the speedlimit.

Actually have two new spares - of all the same type. Better to have the same types of tyres all 'round so that you can easily rotate or replace as needed.
