  • To MUD or NOT to MUD???

    Dear friends,
I have 4 spare wheels for my LC 120 which I use for real off road conditions... Lately I have put on, these, wheels a set of Mud Terrain Tires... WHAT I am not sure of and here is where I need your help is how good the Mud Tires will be in snow conditions. Soon we will have snow here and I would like to try them but first I want to be sure that they will get me on the top of the mountain...

    Thanx...

Have a read of bitdist's trip report to the snow. He mentions using MT's in the snow.

Mud's work very very well in the snow. They elongate nicely when aired down as they have stiffer sidewalls (rather than just bagging sideways which AT's tend to do) and so you get a nice long contact patch. Also snow grips to snow very well (better than rubber to snow) so the treads can hold the snow which enables better grip. The only thing is don't keep the right foot down if you stop going forward as you dig a hole very quickly.
We go up every year with a group and many run centipedes or jungle trackers etc which are a lot more aggressive again and they work very very well

      cheers

Tim thank you very much. Now I feel far more confident about my Mud Tires....
Have a nice time this weekend, I certainly will trying my new mad tires on snow...
