I tried my wheel nuts from the alloys on some steelies I picked up nice n cheap from fleabay ($52 for 2 rims) and they seem to do up ok

No good... you need nuts with a tapered seat :!:

Thanks for that Mick, I thought it was too good to be true, Oh well the first 2 rims were cheap So i'm not going to complain if I have to spend about $40 to buy the nuts from a tyre joint.

I recently bought chrome closed end nuts with tapered seats for steel wheels for $1 each at Autobarn. I think the standard open ended steel hex nuts were about 50-60 cents each.

Tried my local autobarn for the tapered wheel nuts and was quoted $2.00 each, Told them that I heard they were $1.00 each and the girl said they must have gone up. I said what 100%and she just gave me a stupid look. I said I will try the local tyre place they want $1.50 each ??? I will have to call into the tyre place and hopefully that are $1.50 each.
