      Troy,

Good choice it certainly was for me. Lets us know how you go once you have them fitted. Also I would be interested in tyre pressures recommended. For my set the manager said for even wear across the tyre to run them at 40 psi. Time will tell.

        Hazza,

I was actually going to get the BFG MT KM2's but there is none in the country for 3 months according to jacks who called BFG. So I went the Mickey Thompsons. Although i spent a couple of days trying to decided first what a waste of time that was lol. I have heard on a few accounts that the BFG's wear a bit better and they have also had some good reviews in the 4x4 mags. But I am sure i will be happy with the MTZ just hope i can get some decent kms out of them. When I had BFGs KM2's on my pathfinder they seemed to wear well and that was on high pressures 38-40 on the road. I assume they will be telling me the same but ill let you know :-)

Although i will be investing in regular wheel alignments and rotations to get the most out of them.

        • Howdy,

          I got 265/70 17 ATZ4 fitted today after selling my m/t and a/t to a PP
Member, (but nOt advertised here because I'm not allowed for 3 months, sorry if u missed out)
Anyway, I chose these as an in between tyre......
Really just wanted you to know my opinion......
FIRST IMPRESSION: very noisy. My Kumho m/t were about the same.

I had the STZ as an all terrain very good all-round tyre, silent compared to the atz4
          I would highly recommend STZ
I just wonder how much noisier mtz would be (never owned them).

            Hey ####,

I have the MTZ but they are only new so i am sure they will get louder. Yeah they hum but so did the BFG km2. For me personally it doesnt worry me just turn the stereo up a bit, I think you get used to it in no time, well i do until i drive another car.

              Hazza,

When I got my car back they had 40psi in them the spare had 50 :-S not sure why. I called MT to see what they suggested. The first time the guy suggest 32 psi on the black top no load, the second guy 34. Who also seemed to think ill get much better wear at 34 then 40. I spoke to my mechanic, who also has extensive tyre fitting etc experience. And he suggested 36 and see how there wear, so they are now at 36!

                Hey Troy,

I had km2 last year on my 2011 Hilux
The noise doesn't bother me too much,
It's not a lot different from the atz4rib to the muddies
Just for ppl that want a quieter tyre than a muddie, I'd say it's not the atz4.....
The STZ worked well all round and silent.
I guess I was hoping for it to be quieter than it is,
It's certainly not too loud or unbearable like the old MUDs, like km1 etc
But to me the km2 were ok also.
My Kumhos which I just sold, was very happy with noise levels
Could have left them on all the time also

                  Troy,

How confusing is that lol. I guess everyone has an opinion based on experience.

I have found 40 psi is fine but 38 seems to soften the ride a little. It’s been raining cats n dogs up here and at 40 It's solid on the road so weather has little impact with pressures at least for theses tires on my car. As for wear time will tell.

I'm going bush tomorrow so once I get back on the black top I will inflate them to 38. I guess it’s one of those things you have to make a call yourself and see how you go over time.

                  Thanks for the reply

                    Hey Hazza,

I recently when for a bit of a drive in kosciuszko whilst looking for fishing spots. Found a pretty muddy track had tyres at about 28psi. They performed excellently!! :-) I did still manage to make them totally clog up and loose traction on one hill, on purpose. It was wet a lot of snow rain etc over the last week. So over all happy. On another note my bullbar paided for its self on the way home when i wiped out a roo. :-)

                    • On tire pressure, I was running 36 all good
I recently trailed running 40 on a Prado with new tyres for 10,000klms
It was wearing the centers of all the tyres considerably more than the sides
I will stick with 36, maybe 38 or do if a bit of load in rear.

I run 38 PSI in mine and carry a few hundred kgs in the back.
                        All good.

                        • Great feedback from everyone so far. I was out in the scrub giving them a hiding on Sunday. Let them down to 22 psi and through the tracks mud and rock they never missed a beat. Really a good all-rounder. Running them at 38 on the black top and see how they go over time.

Now to search for the correct wheel alignment settings to pass over to the tyre mob as I dont want the LHS scrubbing out like I have heard about when not set up correctly...
