there some nice stats to quote, so you should be looking at nearly 100K if you look after them

      • Just did a check rather than a guess. I've got 6 tyres. Two are about 8mm left but they where the two on the rear when we did Oodnadatta Track, Simpson and Birdsville out to Tiboburra and Broken Hill. While the depth is down on these it is more lug compression than anything. Some chipping and cracks but nothing serious. With the other four I have three at 10 - 10.2mm and one that is about 9.5mm. Plenty of life left in them yet.

        • Hi Guys

I have just had my MT ATZ 4 ribs fitted and now have the problem of the rear spacer for the Spare Tyre.

I am in the middle of making up my Spacers/Revers light braket and need to find some longer bolts.

Does anyone now the best solution for these and wher I can get them in Melbourne, Vic

          Thanks

              • Just wondering if anyone here can help with this question.

I currently have Mickey Thompson ATZ 5 ribs on my 120 in 265/70/17, I currently have the spare on the rear door and as far as I know I don't have spacers on the wheel carrier.

I am looking to get the same size tyre in the 4 rib, I was thinking that if the tyres are the same size and the same brand that the 4 ribs should fit.

Can anyone tell me if they have done the same and if they needed spacers as it seems most people are using spacers for the MT 4 ribs in that size.

                Thanks in advance.

                • Justo, you will need spacers. The ATZ5 has more of a rounded shoulder than the ATZ4. Depending on where you are you can have a look at mine if you want to check. PM me if you want to see.

You can get away without the spacers but the shoulders will rub against the rear panel from time to time and remove the paint work where it makes contact.

Thanks for that Nick, I'll probably just go ahead with some spacers, did you make your own or go with the AMTS ones?

                    • Justo, I have a set of dog bone spacers that I bought off a mate who used to run a 4wd shop called Extreme Offroad. I've had these on for about 2 1/2 years which is before Andrew started making his spacers. From memory I only paid about $10 for these but needed to buy longer bolts but I would imagine the standard price is about $40.00. I used a piece of rubber behind the spacer to "attempt" to protect the paintwork from contact with the dog bone. Not sure if there is any real logic in that as I guess there will be sand caught in between the paint and the rubber. Alternatives would be to buy through Andrew (fairly cheap), use some larger washers (very cheap and will work as there is only a small contact area from the wheel bracket to the door). Quite a few people have used those plastic chopping boards. I wouldn't recommend those as I think the quality of the plactis is extremely variable and in most coses isn't designed for high impact. Some who have gone down this path have reported the plastic cracking which is probably a combination of phyiscal impact and UV.

                      • Just went to local Tyrepower in Newy and was quoted $390 Each for the 4 rib....even though i was going to buy 8.

Judging from other prices i need to shop about or has there been some serious price rises lately?

                            • Guys

You really needs to shop around, $392 is the Req price that Mickey say the dealers have to sell for.

I was able to get them for $360 each for 5, and the guy even gave me the Balance and Wheel alignment as well.

I reakon if I was buying 8 of them I would be saying you want them for at least $350 each.

The place I got mine from was so busy as well, I think he works on the fact that you sell alot more if you sell them cheap..and make more money if i sell lots of tyres.
