Im not sure if peppering is the right word but after travelling Marla to Hilston on the gravel ( Oodnadatta and Strezlecki tracks, then Cameron corner and down to Hilston ) my rear tyres look like they have been put thru a sand blaster, fronts are ok and rear right is the worst. My guess is the full time 4wd puts more drive to the rear which puts more stress on the rear tyres which then get peppered by the gravel. Not sure if this is related to tyre pressure or brand etc, I was running 25 psi all round.

Re: stone peppering
I have a mate who has Coopers ATRs on his 70 series and the shoulders and lugs are chipped to buggery from driving on dirt/gravel roads. Course the warranty is no good as he does not want to replace then and the warranty is only for pro rata damage. Is this what you are referring to? He mentioned that since this happened to him he asked around and it appears to be a common issue.
Unsure about the right rear in particular other than with roads on large crowns more pressure is on the RHS.

Re: stone peppering
"Peppering" as opposed to "Chipping"or chunks getting torn off is considered normal tyre damage for the tracks you describe.Im not sure if peppering is the right word but after travelling Marla to Hilston on the gravel ( Oodnadatta and Strezlecki tracks, then Cameron corner and down to Hilston ) my rear tyres look like they have been put thru a sand blaster,
The gibbers are terrible on tyres, especially the rears (due to weight). The northern section of the Strez (Dillons Hwy) and the Oodnadatta are well known for this no matter what tyre or vehicle.

Re: stone peppering
Welcome to my world. It happens to all brands. Some compounds are softer than others, tyre pressure doesn't seem to alter this wear. Although proper pressure and speed adjustment goes a long way to tyre longevity.
Wait until the rocks have smashed through your plastic under guards. I've coated the underside of the wheel wells in body-shutz bitumen style material to soften the impact.
And check out the paint removal from springs and shocks!Dave
