  • BFG A/T Pricing

I am looking to purchase in the coming few weeks, can we re-visit the topic of pricing for BFG's?

I was just quoted $375.00 a corner for a/t's in 265/70 size - which seems ridiculous. Told again the m/t's were not available, so if anyone can give me some ideas on All terrains that would be appreciated.

(seems like a big increase since the last pricing survey 12 months ago - despite the gains in the AUD).

    I don't want the 265/65's which i have seen at around $300.

    Sounds cheap to me!

You should try pricing them in Karratha. It won't help you any, but it will make you feel better about the price.

Hi Wil - Mate if I lived in Karratha - i'd be quite happy to pay a premium. Beautiful part of the world!

          Re: BFG A/T Pricing

Just today, I got 4 new BFG's from JaxQuickfit Tyres in Townsville. Phoned around for the best deal first. Also, have a look on their webpage. They have the 265/65/17's on special, which is fine if your spare is this size.
Invoice reads LT 265/70R17 all ter t/a k $340 each, fitting free, balance $3.25 each, Tubeless valves $1.25, Waste disposal $5.50,
          Total price $1450.00
          wheel alignment $50.00
Rides like a dream and looks the goods now with the white lettering on the outside. They didn't give me a choice last time..
I think Jax are Queensland wide.
Had an interesting discussion about Coopers with them. Reckon they are brittle and blow out in Oz conditions. He actually recommended the Yokahama Geolanders because they were made here at Winton for Oz conditions. I just wanted BFG replacements. Mine had done 75,000 somewhat hard kilometers.
You're here for a good time, not a long time... Love my Prado...

News to me too, he must have had his wires crossed.......the last Australian tyre plant announced its closure last week, it's here in Adelaide and it's a Bridgestone one.
They also closed the one in NZ, bringing to an end tyre manufacturing in both countries.

                  Re: BFG A/T Pricing

I have a friend who recently had BFG AT's in a LT 275/65/17 121S spec tyre installed on his Paj LWB @ $345 per corner at the Jax at Bowen Hills in Brisbane. Based on the original tyres being 265/65/17 these tyres provide an overall rolling diameter change of 14mm and therefore are considered legal by QLD Transport whereas a 265/70/17 is over the 15mm allowance.

                    Hi Tim,

I got a quote yesterday from Mark at Jax at Capalaba for BFG's 265/70/17's $349.00 and $310 for BFG's 275/65/17's per tyre including fitting and balancing and including GST if you have not already purchased tyres. What i don't understand is with the Aussie dollar being so high the prices of these tyres should have come down in price.

                      Thanks Chris,
I decided to hold off another month on tyres as the bathroom has decided it was in need of my cash more than the Prado. I am now down to $340 a corner as well, which is certainly a long way from where i started a couple of weeks back. Thanks again.

                              Hi Guys,
I was looking at the spare wheel on my prado and noticed how close the rear windscreen wiper arm and the black curved piece of plastic at the bottom are to the spare tyre. Has anyone had dramas with mounting BFG's 275/65/17 on the spare rim and the tyre effecting both of these and more so the rear wndscreen wiper arm. I know the 275/65 are only slightly wider and taller but the BFG's have also got very square edges in comparsion to the Grandtreks.

                              Chris.
