Having just forked out over $1200 for new Cooper Discoverer ATR tyres, I thought that it might pay to provide a little security for this investment and buy four locking nuts, peace of mind for about $30.00. First I tried Repco with no luck, the guy their told me they don't stock them, my local Toyota dealer informed me that they don't keep them. My next stop was to a local tyre fitter who took off one wheel nut and explained to me about the bevelled end of the nut and went on to inform me that nobody makes wheel locking nuts the Toyota Prado. My understanding is that you probably could attach locking wheel nuts, but they wouldn't fit correctly.

Re: Wheel Locking Nuts
I assume there must be a Toyota part number for these as my spare came with a locking nut that fits my Toyota key.
Personally, though ,as D4D says, I wouldn't botherGreg - 08 D4D Prado,

Re: Wheel Locking Nuts
Don't know if you are still looking but these are a great lock nut. I don't have any on the Prado because I cannot see the point but Gorilla claim to have lock nuts to suit all Lexus models so it might be worth an email to them. If they do have them there are some local retailers.

Re: Wheel Locking Nuts
And then one day when your are far, far away in a distant place you get a flat and when you go to change the wheel you can't find the bloody special key for the nut!
Ever tried using a hammer and cold-chisel to knock one of those buggers off?
If you are worried about somebody knocking off your wheels then:
a) sleep in or under or on top of the car (preferably with a firearm close by)
b) chain a savage rottweiler to the car (be sure to give him enough chain to go completely around the car)
c) don't park your car or leave it in any unsavory location (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, etc)
d) jack the car up and remove the wheels and lock them away until you really need to drive the carDave

Re: Wheel Locking Nuts
Hi Donwich,
I installed the following set of wheel nut locks for my 90 series with King mags in late Sept 2010:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/STEEL-WHEEL-LOCK ... 3cb0a5976e
They fitted perfectly, price reasonable and this ebay seller was most courteous, prompt and reasonable. Highly recommended.
I specified 12 x 1.5 threads, as this was stamped on my existing wheel nuts. They had matching 45o chamfers to the wheel, like my existing wheel nuts. The key has a 13/16" head, whereas my other wheel nuts are 3/4", so easy to pack both sockets, and of course the key with my tool kit in the back.
Cheers, Mark.

Re: Wheel Locking Nuts
I had locking nuts on my 1st car many years ago, I ended up getting in the habbit of asking the tyre fitter where he put it before leaving the tyre shop. The 1st time they forgot to put it back, it was weeks later that I noticed, took me a while to go through his box of them to find mine (obviously not the 1st time they forgot to return them). I'd always have one on the spare, as its a lot easier for them to take, but don't think its worth the hassle for the other 4.
