I've got a 2003 GX Turbo Diesel and want to put the wider tyres that the GXL, VX and Grande run. Is it legal to do that? I have a couple of friends that have, but they can't tell me if it's legal or not. I'm currently running Cooper Discoverer ATRs on the steel wheels and am thinking of putting the wider after market alloys on with BFGs that everyone seems to like over the Coopers. I looked at the tyre placard which says Rim Size: 17X6J, Tyre Size: 225/70R17 108S Reinforced then lower down, it says: Rim Size: 17X71/2J 17X71/2JJ, Tyre Size: 265/65R17 112S. As an added measure of confusion, the top half says: Cold pressures Front 200kPa, Rear 260kPa then lower down it says: Front and Rear cold pressures both at 190kPa. So, can I run the larger rim, or must I stay with what's already there? And whichever way, are the light truck BFGs better than the Coopers? And are BFGs available in the skinnier size if I can't go larger? Lots of questions, I know, but I want to get what's best for the truck. Thanks.

Re: Tyre sizes and types.
You can run 265/65R17 on your GX with no issues whatsoever. I think Samo is running Cooper ST 265/70R17 and it just fits within the guards (i.e. width wise) without needing to add flares. Refer to viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8097&p=111532&#p111532
