  • M/T Tyre Reasonable Wear Limit ?

My MTZs currently have an average tread depth of 8.5mm (they were 15mm when new).
What are people's experiences / opinions of what is a reasonable wear limit for mud terrain tyres before off road performance starts to suffer?
I've got a 15K off road trip coming up soon and I'm pondering whether or not to put on a new set of tyres before the trip.

If it was me I'd change them. Half tread wear is end of life for the bush. Put the old tyres on your trailer or sell them on eBay.

Noticed a definite decline in offroad ability after 20,000kms with my MTZ's. They still had 11mm tread depth.

Sold them on for a reasonable price and got new ones.

New would be the recommendation for a upcoming trip of that distance.
Would get them a month or so earlier than the trip, to season them- tyres fresh from the mould can wear quickly especially in outback conditions.

        Thanks for the responses.

I've just ordered 5 new Kevlar MTRs it will be interesting to compare them to the MTZs.
