  • Dick Cepek FC II (Mickey T's) in 265/70R17

I received a new info pack today from Mickey Thompson and they recommended I use the FC II's in 265/70 17's.

I have looked at these before on their website but did not see in this size. Just checked and still do not see in this size. Would one of the other sizes translate to the same thing? Such as a 33 12.5?

From memory a 33 would be a huge amount larger in diameter.

I'll call tomorrow as well....maybe they just made a typo.

I grabbed a copy of the MT tyre guide recently as well and nothing on the F-C II in that size there.

The standard size 265/65R17 is about 30.6 while a 265/70R17 works out to 31.6. If you want to check just Google "Tyre Size Calculator" and follow a link and plug in the details

Just because it's not on their website or in their brochure doesn't mean it's not available.

I had this problem last year when looking for tyres. For instance if you look at the Goodyear website they only list a handfull of sizes for each pattern but if you call a dealer, nearly any size is available. It's frustrating but I'd say it's a similar situation with MT.

      Cheers.

Appreciate that gents. Apologies but I have not talked to the guys at NTW yet. I tried this afternoon but the guy on the phone said it was not in his catalog. They asked if I call back tomorrow and speak with Brett.

I hope they do have in this size as it does look like a good use between the ATZ and MTZ.

Re: Dick Cepek FC II (Mickey T's) in 265/70R17

          just a follow-up....

Spoke to NTW yesterday and confirmed there is no 265/70 17's in the FC-II's. They said to use 33/12.50R17LT but be mindful they could hit the inner guard.

Conducting the metric calculation this does not look like a good idea
          1. it is recommended for a wider rim 8-11 inches
          2. it is a lot larger in dia. than the 265/ 17's as shown below using one of the converters as recommended above....Thanks Schaffer!!!
          3. Too many modifications would be needed to accommodate or different size rims
          4. would not be of legal parameters...don't mind going over the edge just a bit but this appears to be quite a bit

          Conversion of size below:
          (utilising Explor Oz's calculator) http://www.exploroz.com/vehicle/tyres/sizecalc.aspx

          Factory 265/65/17's
          Rolling Radius 388.15mm
          Circumference 2438.82mm
          Diameter 776.3mm

          33/12.50R17LT
          Metric Equivalent 320 / 65 R 17
          Rolling Radius 423.9mm
          Circumference 2663.44mm
          Diameter 847.8mm

The equivalent size listed is as a 32X10.50R17

I have given up on the FC II's....although they look like a good option they are too hard to find. They can get them, some places in SA have them and sold out already.

I don't want a tire that if/when I shred one I cannot find a match or am told to wait 6-8 weeks to replace.

That would be Cotton Tyres. They do the importing in South Australia.

Update: FC-II's are not listed on the Aus site with 265/70's. May call again for availability now and pricing. I saw a Patrol around the corner when walking the dog with set on...good looking set of shoes
