  • Falken Wildpeak 265/70r17 scrub on stock Suspension

Just for future searchers, I put on Falken Wildpeak 265/70r17 last week. 2006 120 petrol.

    1. They scrub on plastic somewhere on stock suspension at full lock, when at normal ride height. Had to turn a bit tighter than normal this morning and heard it...haven't checked where as yet.
    2. They don't fit on the rear mount, nor does the cover fit

If I remember to, I'll post back with where they scrub.

    What are your suspension heights?

Interesting. Suspension hasnt sagged much and I would have thought the tyres would clear. Look to be very square and perhaps slightly taller than the usual 265/70? The increase in diameter compared to previous tyres is huge. 36mm front and 50mm rear. Were they 265/65? Must have been very worn. The increase in diameter should only be 28mm plus tread depth that has worn away so maybe 40mm? 50mm at the rear is a lot. Can you chuck a tape on the tyres?

they were the stock grandtreks fronts were very worn, rear still had a little, but I think officer dibble would have disagreed had I come across him. It was new to me, was just waiting for a better deal on the Wildpeaks.

I've seen people saying they can fit BFGs in 265/70r17 on the stock carrier without spacers, so they must have more width than BFGs.

Looks like I need 10mm spacer on top and 15mm on the bottom to make it work.

I added amts spacer on my 120 because tge 265/70 BFGs rubbed. Same on the 150.

Sounds like you need a lift!

            Thanks for posting your results.

yeah looks like AMTS hasn't sold them for many years now, so will make my own. Would like a lift, but not happening in the near future.

the scrubing was on the inside plastic/rubber towards the rear. turns out its flexible, so I just pushed it and it went from sticking out into the wheel well, to sticking in towards the engine.
