Number of plys variance 265 to 275

A question for the tyre experts...I don't understand why when you look at a Cooper ST 265/70R 17 it has a 10 ply construction whereas the 275/70 only has a 6 ply construction?

Wouldn't it be better to have 10 plies?

Both are Light Truck Construction

Yes 10 plys is better in that tyre.

Yep as Davos said more plys is better and also increase the load rating of the tyre. The 265 had a load rating of 121 (1450kgs per tyre) while the 275 was only 114 (1180 kgs per tyre)

a 265/70/17 already gives you an inch (25mm) of height over the standard rubber??
