    I agree with Pradogxlv6, I have had 694's since new 09/2005 on my GXL TD and they have been brilliant. Good in the dry, in the wet, quiet. 50,000 km with 6 to 7mm of tread to go. No strange wear patterns. I put a new set on for a trip up the Canning, Tanami, Oodnadatta, Strezlecki tracks and home to Bathurst via the Wanaaring road. Over 10,000 km and just one small staking fixed with a plug. Not bad for a "passenger" tyre. The vehicle was heavily loaded (500kg est) with medium King Springs and Bilstein shocks. Handled it beautifully.

      Newbie - Prado VX 2006

      Hi All,

      I am new to this group and currently residing in Saudi. Recommended Tyre change by the goons of Toyota and a search for the best suited tyre for Prado brings me here.

      I have done nearly 45,000 KM's on my Prado V6 (fully loaded) with Long tarmac drives across the heat of the ME (more than 10,000 KM's) with temperatures ranging from 30 - 50'c and guess what the Dunlop held well. Tyres were rotated only once at 30,000 (should have done at every 5,000). The main off-road experience was in the mountains of the South near Yemen. So far I have not had a single puncture, yes not a single puncture). I feel with more rotation they might work for another 5,000 KM's (atleast). Though I am planning on changing them before-hand. My choices;

      1. Pirreli Scorpian
      2. D694

      I will be doing another trip to Jordan and Syria in the coming months, with more of a long Tarmac Drive (not ideal roads) and some off-road. I have read the D694 reviews and under stand this to be the best bet for my driving conditions, with mostly hot and humid conditions, rain at times and some off-road and a bit of steep tarmac hills (with no snow). If I plan on Lebanon than I might hit the snow. I am not a big fan of desert bashing but will definitely go for Wadi Bashing in Oman and Yemen at a later stage.

      I am yet to find any review on this forum for Pirreli Scorpian. I under stand that Mansour has just got these and we await his update (after his 15th of October trip). Any other updates on Pirelli will be helpful? Otherwise my second choice is D694, which is readily available. I am checking if Pirreli is available in R-17. I am told it is.

      Best Regards,

      Naukhez

              240 a tyre

              Just spoke to Bridgestone at Artarmon. They are doing a deal from their warehouse - $248 a tyre fitted and balanced. They also give NRMA members an $8 dollar discount. Which means $240.00 a tyre for the D694. 8)

              Usual price was $270.00 per tyre. Just in case anyone was looking for some new tread.

              Cheers All
