We've just done 9000k on Bridgestone LT 694s. They are very quiet on the highway, just a little bit of noise on very smooth bitumen around town. Much better off-road than the old Grandtreks and price was good: 275 a corner at Jax Toowoomba - back in late November 2010.

@ roverrock, the coopers st wasn't that bad for road noise, if you kept on rotating the tyres had them on a 97 pajero and all pulses did 50,000 km on them and still have a lot of life, they where 265/75 16 looking at the dicky fc but the tread is a little bit less aggressive than the coopers at a bit of a stall at the moment im looking at the possibly of putting 275/70/17 but don't know if I will run in to problems with rubbing -----andy

Thanks Andy. Agree about the FC11 looking less aggressive - we were also looking at the MT ATZ4 (which seemed very similar to the Cooper ST's) until the tyre rep said that the "ATZ4 were a lot more noisier than the MT MTZ" !!! Has anyone any feedback on that statement? For the main type of driving that we do and plan to do the MTZ just seems too extreme but want something just a little more aggressive than the Cooper AT's that we've previous had. The FC11 and ATZ4 have the same 60/40 split rating so at this stage are stalled too. We've changed suspension to OME recently and will be looking to go to 265/70/70 as hubbie wants the 10 ply construction. Not much help to you but you're not the only one having trouble selecting new shoes The few quotes that we've had so far - no one is willing to 'budge' on price - have you found that too?

@ rover rock , if you look at the fc2 tyre pattern as a mate said to me the cooper st would move the water a lot faster thru the thread pattern than the fc 2 as the fc2 seems to have more corners to go around in the middle as for MTZ if you are like me and doing 60%road 40%dirt Im thinking the cooper st 265/70/17 had them b4 as for price what quotes did you get pm me as if you looking at them soon we may have a bit of power on price

As for your suspension up grade I put RAW suspension got the lot for $850 shockers are made in canada by powerdown who make shockers /struts for trucks springs are made in melbourne, if you wish to have a look a the set up its 45mm lift but there's others

The tyre rep is talking out his arse. I've got a set and while they are noiser than the Grandtreks (everything is) they are a lot quiter than a muddie. Send me a PM and might be able to meet up so you can hear the awesome noiser then muddies tyre.

@ baglimit, thanks for the feedback. We are getting a lot of feedback about the ST's about lugs being torn off. Agree a lot to do with way you drive, tyre pressures and the terrain you're driving on. We did experience this more so with our last set of Cooper ATR's but it was mainly chipping. You seem to have got the best price. I called the suppliers in our area and no one was willing or "able" to move on price. Good idea about teaming up to 'bulk' purchase however I think the hubbie is leaning strongly towards MT ATZ4. I think mainly to give it a go. Will PM you anyway with the prices I've got so far. We've done the 2" lift Old Man Emu already (about month ago), not as cheap as that but thanks for the info anyway.

@schaffer, no wonder the sales man sounded very muffled, we were wondering which orifice he was talking from but what do we know! I thought that comment might attract a bit more feedback. Agree everything will be noisier than the dunlops we currently have (where on the car when we bought it) but just wanted to be able to chose something that will at least allow us to still have a conversation (over the kids in the backseat that is  ). Will let the other half know about your offer and will PM you if interested. Thanks

Re: Cooper st / Dick Cepic fc 2

In a previous life; on a 90 series prado - my FCII's were brilliant, so brilliant I'll prob be putting another set on the 120 series, that or the MT 4rib. FYI, sold the old vehicle having done 130,000km on the tread with no problems whatsoever (taken places most can only dream) & looking like there'd be an easy 10k left in them - definite but light hum when new but only reminded me I should be out shooting pigs not driving to work...
