  • Front Suspension upgrade -what works

    Hi all,
My last ZR had the Pedders front Springs and it made a huge difference to the wallowing and handling. I would like to try their shocks on the front also to further reduce the diving under braking.

I do not want to add any height to the ZR , however would like a front end that acts more like it should under hard braking..
    Any suggestions ?
Anyone tried the Pedders shocks ?????

    Hi Prokiwi,
I know you don't want a lift, but I changed my shocks and springs and have had the tough dog ones on since January this year. I had the lift so the 65 profile BFG's would sit comfortably, the bullbar and the back of the vehicle would sit level (especially when loaded up). The ZR drives like a dream both on and offroad, nice and stable through corners and while a bit stiffer I much prefer that than doing the sloppy jelly roll.

Glad to hear you came back to Shorty land!

    Cheers

To increase handling without lifting the vehicle, I would recommend Bilstein shocks with Dobinson or King standard height springs.

I haven't had personal experience with Pedders, but their springs would be manufactured by either King, Dobinsons or Lovells.

Thanks for the feedback guys , for anyone who doesn't know Toyota changed the suspension on the ZR for 2013 . I have no issues at all with diving like my older model did. No matter how hard I try I cannot make it dive....and with heavy trailer on , its as smooth and straight as a long wheel base. There is no wallowing at all.

Had to talk to the head technician at Toyota Australia to find out about the change in suspension upgrade though !!

Hey prokiwi, can you post a photo of your front right sway bar mount to confirm that your ZR has KDSS please.

Stay away from Pedders. I had two fronts fail after 27K on my MK Triton. The lower rubber bushes had completely disintergrated and I had to have them replaced under warranty
