  • 2015 short wheelbase from Switzerland

    Hello everbody,

I'm a quiete member since some time. Get many information from this forum, bevor I put down a factory order for my shortwheelbase j155.
Ordered it bevor christmas 2014 and waited 6 month for the car to be produced and shiped to switzerland.
It is a artic spezification with factory fitted dualbatterie system (they come standart like this for switzerland, austria, schweden, norway, finnland and island in europe). the car is also fitted with a diesel particulate filter (it is the 3.0 diesel engine) this is the law. I fitted rhino aero bar and took it out this summer in juli and august, for a 6 week scandinavia trip (sweden, norway only) where i drove the first 10000 km.
I'm thinking of doing some modifications in the future. but first have to save some bucks. first mod will be proper winter tyres for driving in the snow, so i can safely reach the ski resorts in the christmas holidays.
I'm very happy with the performance and the comfort. Bevor I had a suzuki grand vitara 5 door with ome suspension and snorkel, which got pretty beaten up in island and i had to sell it because it had many engine problemes. hope with the toyota i will have a strong travel compagnion for a long time. Please apologies for my bad english writing.

I wonder if the dual factory battery system can be ordered for other 150/155 models. Our dealer here only sells their own specs with little room for customized ordering

                  Hi Suki,

Please send pictures of the 2nd battery mounting in your car.

For modifications have a look at Arctic Trucks at http://www.arctictrucks.com/ . Wish they had a shop in Australia!!

                  Cheers

                    thanks for all your replies.
@withney: no its not there its is on some gravel track towards a mobile phone antenna. I don't have my norway maps at hand, so can't tell you exactly where.

I just go down to my garage to take the picture of the dual battery factory setup.

give my some time, please. have been to island the last weeks and driven round in a jeep grand cherokee.

yes I know the guys from artic truck. stopped there in Reykjavik in 2012, while driving my suzuki grand vitara.

ok guys here are the pics.
sorry for the bad quality. It's night here in europe and i had to use the flash. let me know, if you want more details. for us here in switzerland, it is normal that landcruisers have two batteries as standard.

Glad to see anther shorty.

@sweetpea: Haha - yeah. I guess that's the difference between Europe and our outback.
Mine is still dirty after washing it twice coming back from snowy river trip. Not bother cleaning it again as going for a drive in March for darling river run as well.

i just had it service recently. service is free for the first 60t km here in switzerland. and it is part of the job to clean the engine bay. the outside was so dirty over the last month, that when i finally washed it two weeks ago my workmates aske me if i had a new car (and this was a honest question; ok it was a female workmate, who is probably not that interested in cars).

It is now 18 months since I returned from the red centre and still there are signs of red dust everywhere.

It doesn't matter how much time and effort goes into washing there is always a stream of red mud when I wash around the rear window wiper and up into the wind deflector and all of the nooks and crannies around the engine bay.

No amount of cleaning the engine bay would restore it to that condition.

Great trip though and hope to be going again soon. Just hoping Lake Eyre continues to fill but I fear it wont.
