  • ARB suspension, any experiences ?

I'm looking to install ARB springs & shocks to our 150 series SWB SX diesel.
I have had ARB suspension before in a LWB vehicle, but never in a SWB.
Not at all happy with wallowy stock ride & want to tighten it up.
I live close to ARB head office, so its convienient, & I have been happy with quality in other vehicle.

I would like to work out which combination of springs & strut / shockers work well.
(With a front suspension of spring & strut, its more difficult to install & I would like to get it right 1st time).

If anyone had experience (good & bad) they would like to share, & include if you have accessories such as bullbars, winch, or other equipment.

I am personally looking for a set up to suit front steel bullbar & Warn winch.
At the rear a set up to suit occassional towing with 100 KG download on towball

Re: ARB suspension, any experiences ?

    Hi,

I´m from Germany, so please excuse my jerky english
Since June I´m using a 155 SX diesel as a daily driver. It rolls on 265/70R17 Cooper ATR and has no extra weight (no winch, no bullbar). I´ve installed an ARB-suspension half a year ago and I´m not very happy with the setting, ARB has developed for the light SWB J15. As ARB recommended, I´m using OME 884X springs in the front and OME 895E on the rear axle with Sport shocks 90010 front and 60080 rear. The riding is much to harsh (a bit like a kart)! The rear axle is very bumpy and the rear suspension only seems to work again a little in the unloaden 155, after I reinstalled the original Toyota-shocks. The length of the 895E is o.k. (around 50mm lift), but they are much to hard for the SWB. The front 884X should be shorter (perhaps like 883x), so you need less pre-load on the struts which could mean a slightly softer ride. The german ARB-dealer told me, that ARB is working on that problem with the J15-SWB-suspension, but this information is from Nov 2010.

Would be nice, if you could achieve any progress in your "neighbourhood" ...

    Cheers
    Mario
