Avenger Winch ?

Has anyone fitted an Avenger Mako winch on a TJM or ARB Deluxe bar to their 150 yet ??

The write up on them seems pretty good as they won the 4wd Action winch comparo recently.

I haven't but was seriously considering it after reading the winch comparo.

G'day,
I picked up a Avenger Mako 12000 with synthetic today. Looked at the mounting pattern (which is co-incidentally is exactly same as the 9500) I can see it will bolt directly onto my bullbar (TJMT13).

The bolt holes line up perfectly (10"/254mm x 4.5"/114mm) between winch and bullbar cradle. The mounting bolts supplied with the winch fit the holes pre-drilled in the bullbar cradle.

I was going to get the 9500 but some order screw up would mean I would have to wait another month or so for a 9500 with synthetic to come in, so the bloke at Opposite Lock sold me the 12000 for an extra $150 ($1345) instead of $1395.

I'm fitting the winch on Saturday and must admit it looks like an easy install, the only painfull bit is having to remove the bullbar from the bullbar cradle, but that is only 8 or so bolts plus the wiring for indicators & fog lights.

I'm on the prowl for a couple of recovery hooks now, hoping to combine both in the install this saturday.

Hi Beached,

Install went well.

Winch mounted fine, hardest part was deciding where to mount the control box. Ended up hiding it within the bullbar 'cause I read elsewhere that some vandals had taken a paperclip to the controller had managed to wind in/out the winch cable and connect it to immovable objects for no good reason.

Winch Installed - Bullbar removed note: I recommend removing grille (i did later on...) you *may* be able to fit the winch without removing bullbar

I'm happy with the install, hiding the control box was great. I'm thinking of doing something with the bullbar plate that used to cover the winch hole, I am thinking of installing it back on, 'cause i would hardly use the winch and it would protect the winch from stones etc plus protect the rope from UV as well, plus provide a barrier to any person whom may have ideas about using my winch without my permission (i.e. out of mind out of sight).
