My son bogged the ute in a ditch on the side of the road on the way home from work. Got forced off the road by someone who doesn't know how to drive on a single lane road. Stressed him out bigtime. Just down the road so I took the tractor down to pull him out. Bit more effort than I expected so I chucked the tractor into 4wd, still a fairly simple recovery with a chain. When the ute got to the bitumen the back wheels wouldn't turn. He still had the handbrake on! He also forgot the bit about letting the clutch in and helping the recovery. Engine was revving though. Reverse lights on and everything. I promised never to tell anyone so shush ok? Happy I was using the tractor and not the Prado. I had a go at him about making sure the ute wouldn't roll uphill back out of the ditch. Very lucky only a bruised ego.

I just installed the Road Runner kit. It's a nice kit with all the pieces required for a 3 bolt install, but you can only use 2 per side on the Prado 150. It took about half an hour all up.
The kit comes with nut plates on a wire to insert into your chassis rail via the rectangular opening near the install point. Tie a piece of string to it just in case you drop it in there. The wire is used to manually position the nut plate into place. There are two types of nut plate, so use the one that rests the plate up against the wall of the chassis rail. Unfortunately the wire broke of mine mid install, but it wasn't too much of an issue...just a bit of a fiddle to get it into place.
The front/lower bolt attaches to a pre installed nut.
Can't wait to try them!
P.s. the forward bolt shows the flat washer on the outside. Don't do this... You want the recovery point, then flat washer, then spring washer, then bolt head. I realised and fixed this after I'd taken my pics :-)Last edited by cbm8880; 10-07-2013, 04:28 PM.2010 Prado GX 3.0L TD - "Paul" - TJM XGS 40mm Lift Kit, Firestone Coilrite Airbags, 5000kg Rated Front Recovery Points, Sure Power Battery Isolator and Dual Battery Setup, Airtec Snorkel, HID High Beam Headlights.

Hi Everyone,
I have the Roadsafe recovery points to be fitted in with the ARB deluxe winch bar on my GXL. After reading this thread, I know the following:
a. 2 bolts are required per side.
b. Only 1 nut-on-plate to be used with the top bolt.
c. The bottom bolt will go in to the existing thread/nut in the chassis.
d. The supplied 12.9 bolts will replace the 8.8 bolts came with the ARB bar.
My questions are:
1. Can the top 12.9 bolt go through without drilling anything?
2. Can the bottom 12.9 bolt fit into the existing thread/nut in the chassis without doing anything to the existing thread/nut in the chassis?
The reason I'm asking these questions is because I don't have the tool to open up the thread/nut in the chassis.
Cheers,
Truyen.

2. Also a straight fit, just bolt it up.

I have successfully fitted my recovery points today and it was straight forward like everyone suggested here. The ARB nut on the plates were fairly easy to remove from the chassis using the flexible magnetic pick up tool as suggested by rwo.
Thank you everyone for instructions, photos and advice.
