  • The powerful4x4 (Rock Armour) ones are on sale at the moment if anyone is interested. $699 for side steps and brush bars with free delivery to a lot of major areas or $599 for just the steps. Looks like a pretty good deal and they are side airbag compatible according to the site. Look pretty strong too:

There's a video at the end of the installation as well which isn't too bad.

It's a shame they aren't KDSS compatible despite the site saying KDSS might need relocation. I sked for clarification and they basically said they won't work with KDSS equipped models.

          Hi Folks

I have seen the Powerful 4 x 4 ones on a GXL 150 and they are not in same quality league as the ARB / TJM ones, mounting holes off centre, poor welding, sharp edges, you would be advised to have a look at a set off the shelf to make sure you are OK with them.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

          • I saw the other week someone who got a set of these and they got bent during transport, makes you wonder how they would fare if they hit a rock in the bush!

            Cheers Andrew

              • I thought the TJM ones were well priced? The ARB ones are up there in price but that is the price for KDSS fitment I suppose...

Really! Bent in transport... Even if they were made of soft alloy pipe and boxed up you would have to be pretty unlucky to get them bent in transport.

No, they are just a poor design, just a thin bit of flat bar holding part together!

But they don't fit a petrol V6 auto unfortunately, best they could offer me was alloy ones. I was told the issue isn't with the KDSS but with the engine crossmember. Looks like I'm stuck with the plastic ones for the forseeable future.

ARB have ones coming soon to fit both petrol and diesel models from what I am told, you are correct on the v6, crossmember is different.

ARB had the foresight to develop for both KDSS and non KDSS equipped models.

TJM only developed for GX and GXL models so no KDSS.

ARB just forgot to check fitment to a V6, they are right but - why would you buy a petrol 4wd Prado (lol).

Diesel power, that should put the cat amongst the pigeons...

OK, they didn't tell me that.

                          • I had been looking at the Powerful 4x4 ones for our 120, but after reading this and other threads I think I will save my coin.
It might be a little further down the track before I get sliders, but at least I will end up with something decent.

Hey Sam, when are you going to have some V6 friendly ones available?

                              • Guys

i was the person who received the damaged sliders from Powerful.

To be fair, the damage was caused by what would have been a severe impact end-on; if I had to guess I'd say something like the whole package being dropped vertically from the deck of a flatbed trailer. There is no way that an impact like that could occur when fitted to the vehicle, nor are the sliders designed for that.

i don't believe there is any issue with Powerful 4x4 sliders. When I'm back in town next week if anyone wants photos of how they are mounted I can post some.

                                Cheers
