  • Front Parking Sensors intermittently goes off

    Folks,
I've bought my vehicle 11 months ago and got te same toyota dealer to install my front parking sensors.
Ever since i bought the car, the sensors intermittently goes off. It is very annoying and find it quite unsafe to trun off as the button is located just below the steering wheel. Twice i reported the problem and twice they said there's noithing wrong and was given an advice to turn them off
Has anyone out there experienced the same problem ?

    Thanks

Front Parking Sensors intermittently goes off

I only have them fitted to the rear. Every now and then they will beep as though there is something there. Not often enough to concern me though. I get out and give them a bit of a wipe and they stop. Guess it's dirt etc that sets em off.

I am having the same problem, but have not been able to get it to happen when I am at Toyota. I also get an "Error" set of beeps when I turn the car on (from this system) in cold and wet mornings, but again I can not get it to happen when at Toyota.

I have almost given up complaining.

I am also getting the same problem. Only picked up the car on Friday afternoon and have had it go off 3 times already. It doesnt beep, but rather just stays on. First time was when I was going around a high speed round-a-bout, 2nd time I was stopped at the lights with no-one in front and it just came on and stayed on for 5 seconds or so until I turned off the button, 3rd time I was driving down the highway. I'll be mentioning it to them when it goes in for its first service in a week or so.

Check if the sensors are wet or dirty.

I have and they aren't. The car was only 15 hours old when it went off for the first time. Everything was still squeeky clean.

I had them fitted too. I counted while driving for 30km they went off 12 times, even when there was no one else around. While sitting stationary at traffic lights, initially they're quite, then suddenly they goes off with a continuous beeeeep, even though I haven't moved. Brought it back to Toyoto and noticed an Altitude model had the sensors mounted the other way round. Turns out mine were mounted upside down (facing the sky in incorrect mounting of the sensors). They turned them around but still have the problem with them going off unexpectly. Anyone have any ideas/experiences?

Now appears to be rectified. Fault found to be poor scotch lock connection to speed sensor wire to the rear of speedo. (I wouldn't have thought Toyota used scotch locks, but they do)
