  • Bash plate clearance ?

I would like to change the factory thinly made bash plate on the front of my Prado as it hangs quite low. Has anyone got pictures of an after market front bash plate? does it increase the clearance the factory one is shaped badly and works like a plow.

I had TJM Bash plates fitted about a week ago, I'll put some pics up tomorrow. My original plates were a bit out of shape and very easily done also.
I showed the Minister for everything & she agreed straight away that I had to get bash plates.

It's a case of you have to get them, as the alternative is not a pretty thought.

Thank you sir they look great. Do you think they have free'd up a bit more ground clearance ? Or are just purely stronger and better built ?

I didn't measure either plate, but I am certain that they didn't cause any loss of clearance, but if it did I would still have them, as for off road work the original ones were way way too thin & weak. A gully crossing that I did (very sharp angles) had the original plates acting like a scoop. Clay filled up all of the gaps & pushed straight through the mesh on the plate, took a bit to get it out as it would not hose out.

Then when it met a rock it bent quite a bit & it was not a hard hit at all.

Ground clearance is the biggest challenge that the Prado has, so a Tough under belly is a must.
Like I said in a earlier post, once the Minister saw it I got immediate approval to order the plate.

These plates are a lot tougher, there is no comparison.

                        Cheers

The TJM bash plates don't fit the petrol 150 unless they've changed the design in the last 6 months. I bought one for mine and it didn't fit. Rang TJM and they thought I was trying to install it incorrectly. Knew I wasn't stupid so took it into them and they couldn't fit it either. The exhaust on the petrol is routed differently so it didn't fit. Worth considering.
