  • Outside Air Temp reading after bullbar installed

I had a Bullbar fitted last week, very happy with my choice of TJM T13 however the Outside temp gauge is now reading higher then the scan gauge Inlet temp. Normally the scan gauge reads (inlet temp) 1-2 degrees above the factory gauge. But after the bullbar was fitted it started to read on average 20-22 degrees. Note ambient would be around the 12-15 degree mark. So I'm thinking the sensor is picking up heat from the engine bay.

Has anyone else found this after fitting a bullbar?

Can anyone point me towards the sensor so I can check its fitting? Maybe its been tucked out of the way during installation of the bar and not been refitted correctly?

    Cheers

Its in front of the radiator, so would capture some heat soak. There is a thread on moving it in the forums.

Had the bullbar on pre delivery so can't help you on the before & after. but it is normaly pretty close to the temps given on the weather reportson the radio.

        Hi Pinko.

How did you go with your issue of the outside air temp reading after you fitted your TJM T13 bar? I'm having a similar issue. The Aircon gets hot and cold when on long runs and I notice that the outside air temp on the screen is always between 20-22.

I didn't have any problems with A/C operation as you report just the outside temp reading. I easily solved the the temp reading by moving the sensor from in front of the radiator (std position) and from behind the winch, to in front of the winch. I cable tired it behind the grill support to keep it away from direct airflow. The outside temp now reads realistic temperatures.

          Hope this helps

Have a TJM 13 bar, no problem with the temperature reading, so a couple of you may be unlucky. Mine was reading 3 or 4 degrees in outback S.A. last month, when that was the real temp.
