I tend to agree with Wooley, would not trust the HR.

Definately the Wynnum or Toyota bars are the better ones. I went with the Toyota bar only because it was a bit cheaper than getting a Wynnum bar down to Melb.
Blue Storm 150 D4D GXL, Toyota Tow Bar, Cheepo floor mats, Tough Dog Springs & Shocks, Colour Coded TJM T13 steel bar, KingOne winch with rope, GME 3440 80 channel uhf. Not allowed to make hole for snorkel - yet..

Can those of you who have a tow bar installed post a picture in this thread? It would be good to have a side by side visual of Genuine Toyota and other brands.
2014 Toyota Prado 150 D4D Auto (facelift); ARB Deluxe Bullbar; OME 2" Lift; Rhino Pioneer Platform Rack; Redarc BCDC 1225 with Optima Yellow Top; BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2; Lightforce Genuine Custom 70w HID; GME UHF; Safari Snorkel; Rigid Industry SR-Q2 side lights (yet to be installed); Domin8or winch (yet to be installed)

I haven't seen an HR towbar on a 150 but on the 120, they are boltes to the cross member and the chassis rails. Not sure why they changed that on the 150.

I have seen a Toyota towbar on the 150 and to my eyes, it looks very, very strong with many mounting points on the chassis and heavy gauge steel used.

The HR bar for the 150 is like the Toyota bar for the 120 (I think), it just bolts to the cross member.

Yeah i went with the Toyota bar after reading about the HR bar. It pays to get a few quotes too. Rang two Toyota dealers with 50km of each other and there was $200 difference in price. Ended up paying $850 installed

Hi, can anyone confirm that the OEM towbar can only be fitted after the vehicle has clocked 1000km? We bought a 150 today and hoping to take delivery on next Friday. (The vehicle is a floor stock with a September 2011 build, hence we can have it soon rather than later.) However we were told the tow bar can only fitted during the 1000km service. Is this true? I'm new to this forum so please excused my ignorance for not using the search button.

It's BS, a towbar or any other mechanical part can be fitted at any time,

Perhaps they're trying to save you some time and a few bucks by fitting it whilst it's in for a service anyway?

This is not true! You are being fed B.S.
The Tow bar, Bull Bar , Air locker & many other extras were fitted on my Prado, prior to pick up from the dealer.

Without checking the manual, It is recommended that you don't tow for the 1st 800 km. (Somebody, please correct me if I'm wrong)

                              Cheers
