Subwoofer Location

Hi everyone

I am one one of the many here still waiting for their vehicle to arrive. My question is directed to the VX and Kakadu owners, correct me if I am wrong but you models have a factory subwoofer installed right? If so can someone tell me the location and size so that when my GXL finally arrives I will know what to do with my audio install.

In the Kakadu, there is an 8 inch subwoofer in the passenger side panel right at the back above the jack. It looks like it is enclosed at the rear (obviously a good thing), but is generally unobtrusive in a physical sense.

Hopefully you'll have some space there in the GXL for some mods.

In my opinion factory subwoofers are never set up optimally as a result of broad market packaging requirements.
The woofer won't be in a proper, rigid sealed enclosure, it would probably just be in the quarter panel, with holes everywhere (this is what the Pajero had). This is terrible for bass quality and output.

See my rig build up thread (link in my sig) for where I've put my two 8 inch subs in a homemade sealed enclosure.

The bass from the sub is actually very impressive. I havent pull it out to look at the enclosure so I cant comment on how well it is sealed and/or tuned. The entertainment system is full 5.1 surround and everyone who watches movies in the car is very impressed so far!

Yep blw I've got to agree. I've had other cars where I have installed or upgraded subs and the Prado one is very impressive indeed. In fact I have a Focal 8 inch sub from another previous car which I was initially going to install into the Prado, but I don't think I will now, as I'm really happy with the sound.
