    Hi Everyone,

Formally a Pathfinder owner, now waiting on my GXL prado. My first post, so be nice please!

I see it's been a year since this thread has been commented on. Just wandering if more members have purchased and used the Trap Mats (carpet version of Sandgrabbers). Do they fit well, vacuum and clean up easily, wear and tear, Is the carpet under the accelerator pedal? how thick is the carpet?. I understand how good the Sandgrabbers are, but would prefer not to have the comercial/tradie look. Has anyone also purchased the trap mat cargo mat at all. If anyone has pictures to share if they have time, it would be much appreciated.

I also looked at the 3D mats, whch were really cheap, and really good value from what has been said on this forum. They do make them in a Carpet version, but nothing yet for the manual 150 Prado for both carpet and vinyl.

    Regards

    John

I have a set of sandgrabbas for a couple of weeks now. Although not perfect (the rear one does not fit really exactly into the corners, a little bit slippery) I am happy with them, well invested $250.00.

        Hi all,

I currently drive a Disco 2 but I'm planning on getting a GXL 150 in the next 12 months.
Has any one had both the Sandgrabbas and the Toyo rubber mats? I was looking at getting the rubber ones, now I'm not so sure.

Sandgrabbas are great. I put them in straight over the carpet mats, and they unclip from little tabs that you slide under teh door sill trims whenever you want to remove to clean them. You can even remove them easily when using the car on a moreformal occasion, else just leave them in, with the carpet mats underneath providing extra protection and noise deadening etc. If you want to protect the car from sand and mud its a great way to go, I like them better than the rubber mats. I got genuine carpet mats first (before I knew about the sandgrabbas), and I picked up a set of sandgrabbas second hand ( virtually new) and just installed straight on top of the carpet mats, so I have the best of both worlds. Good protection off road and I can remove the "industrial" appearance just by unclipping the sandgrabbas for special occasions. Go the sandgrabba vinyl mats in my opinion.

Sangrabbas are bloody terrible. Go the genuine toyo rubber mats.

I've had both and the rubber Toyota mats win hands down.

Yes please! This is the feedback I am chasing! I want to know more about the trap mats and their durability. They are the same price as the sand grabbers.

I have the standard (PVC ) Sandgrabbers and swear by them! I guess the other type may trap the sand and dirt more and would take longer to dry out when hosing down after a big weekend.

Ive got the PVC sandgrabers and had them from the start 3years now, whilst they do the job, I don't think they are worth the money. If you are intending on removing them often then you will find the clips pull out the mats.

                          I have the carpet version,

1/ more comfortable under foot than the PVC finish
2/ seem weaker than the PVC's, i was hitting the base to shake the sand out and tore a small hole in one, I wasn't hitting it very hard
3/ probably stating the obvious but, difficult to clean

                            Hi All,

Fitted the drivers Sandgrabba last night. Does anyone have any issue with the clutch just slightly rubbing the mat when fully pressed in on the 150 series?

                            Cheers,
                            Kevin

I have had mine for 4 years and the only issue I have the velcro that keeps the two rear pieces behind the drivers seat together. They could have used a bit more velcro. The mats are good wearing and easy to clean. Would by them again.

Think it might just have needed to settle in. Mrs was drove the prado about 20-30km yesterday. I drove it about 30 km last night and couldnt feel or hear mat rubbing, so think it might be all good now.

EDIT: Just thought I would add my overall opinion between the 3D mats and Sandgrabbas. If I had to do it all again, I would get the 3D's and modify to fit the manual. I dont feel the Sandgrabbas are as good a fit and preferred the feel underfoot of the 3D's. The 3D's also came with the third row seat floor mat.

Just my two cents after having fitted both, albeit only had the 3D's fitted for a quick drive.
