  • 2010 GXL 150 about to accessorize......

Hi folks, well I have been a member on here for some time now, just sitting back and reading, but the time has come to do some mods so I am after a bit of feedback. Bought a (novated lease) new silver 6 speed manual (wife refuses to drive and auto) D4D GXL 150 series back in December last year. Very happy with it so far, my only complaints are:

    1. Seat belt. I maybe a bit over weight, but my backside ain't that huge but I still find it a bit finicky trying to clip the seatbelt in, I think the stalk could have been a couple of inches longer, would have made it easier.
    2. Getting in an out of the car, I find it a bit hard to slide across the seat, the material seems to conflict with my work pant material and I find I have to climb out of it rather than an easy slide.

Anyway the time has come for a few bits and pieces. Its the wife's car, (I still have my '87 HJ61 cruiser which I think will last longer than me) and she is keen for a bullbar and some spot lights, but being a woman she wants it to"look good" rather than perform. Went out yesterday and did the 4x4 accessory shops, have pretty much got it down to the TJM T13 colour coded. I'm in Cairns so things are a bit more expensive due to freight, was quoted $2495 fitted painted. Very happy with salesman, not pushy, just friendly and informative.

So, have read and spoken to a few, must be close to 50/50 for doing the suspension when fitting a front bar. Think I might just hit TJM up for a deal, bar, suspension, and DP chip/black box.

Is it worth getting the "Chip" without exhaust mods, or get exhaust first then "chip?"

(if this is a rant I am up at the silly time of 0400hrs as I have been on nightshift and cant sleep.......... )

Don't slide. One foot on the side step, hand on the grab handle, stand up and then sit down as you would with any other car. It’s all in the technique.

Don't get a DP chip they are crap. Chip-It chips are the only way to go. Ammaaazing power from a diesel. Plus excellent support and many more features and it uses a lot more sophistic technology than the other brands. Can't beat em. You my read some negative things on this forum about Chip-It some written by myself but they have sorted out the issue and it's bloody fantastic. If your ever down in Townsville PM me and I can show you.

Barry how long did you have the DP chip fitted to your car?

I fitted my chip it chip first but ive fitted it with its own switch so i can switch on and off as i please The exhaust with the help of a business i usefor my workshops exhaust work firstly removed the centre muffler which showed the biggest difference and then replaced the whole exhaust all along the way with the chip switched in and out to tell the differences.

Theres plenty of chips out there most change the duration of the injection pulse where as the chip it chip changes fuel pressure. Either way they both get more fuel into the chamber which is what counts.

I've never had a DP chip. Some friends have and have had some problems which couldn't be resolved. Chip-It have resolved my issue and some. Chip-It not only increases fuel pressure but also boost which gives them the edge of the others. Which of coarse results in more power then what the others can achieve. Hey lets face it, we buy a chip to get more power why not buy the one that gives you the most power? Plus it's Australian made. Can't beat good old Aussie know how.

But fairs fair and people may like DP chips or other brands which cost more and produce less power................for some strange reason that defies my logic.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. I am keen on getting everything done prior to mid October, as we are heading off to the Territory in the for a holiday in the last week of Oct. No serious 4x4 stuff but taking the boat (4.55 Hornet with 70 4stroke) so want it all sorted before hand. Time to look out for a "chip it" chip and do some searching for suspension mods.....

My wife was the same but being away from home and the vehicle on a lease we needed to do the km's. She drives it everyday and loves it except hill starts.

Where are you driving from? (need to add location to your profile) Because thats the start of the build-up. Good for fishing thou whilst having a very very cold beer.
