    Hi ecka..
This is the reason I like the concept of the unit that plugs into the cigarette lighter, its easily removed when not in use and does not require batteries to operate..
    Problem is finding one !!!
    Cheers..

The main Control head might not require batteries but the sender unit that is reading the temp in the fridge will still require batteries.

I purchased an Engel wireless thermometer. The first one didn't work at all and the second one just completed an 11000klm trip with no problems...

Am I right in guessing your unit mounts on the dash somewhere ??..

I just leave it in the center console and grab it when I want to check it... But, yes you could mount it to the dash, however it's a little large...

Yep... Agreed... It just seems that you have to buy a Primus Fridge to get one though!

Which ARB fridge did you go for? I've just been looking at one, they look pretty good, especially the 60L as its quite slimline.

Its been 4 years since a post here, so instead of starting a new thread.
I am looking for a wireless thermometer solution for my ARB fridge (during a trip, my plug broke and i had no way of telling in the cab that my fridge was not working) . I realise ARB have just bought out a new wireless thermometer but is is only for new ARB fridges that have the new circuity not any from like 6+Months old. My ARB fridge is several years old.

So whats the latest in compact small, wireless thermometers that I could use to tell the internal temp of my ARB fridge please?

                            Cheers

I use this on my evakool. http://www.evakool.com/evakool-wireless-thermometer

Yes sender and receiver need AA/AAA batteries, but they last about a year. I just remove them when I am not using them. Receiver sits in the centre console or that cut out by the gear shit lever, or the glove box, or the tent. Shows min and max temps achieved during the day too. Ignore the specs. No way it weighs 1kg. Its about the size of an iPhone if a bit thicker. Sender is about the size of a pack of cigs. I've velcroed it to the side of the fridge.

                                Wireless fridge thermometer

BIL has the EvaKool unit also. Says it works well and has saved his fridges contents on a couple of trips when the plug has been knocked out. Great idea with Mother's Day coming up!
